I'm 56 and I've followed American sports my whole life. I've never seen a great player so universally reviled as Lebron James. I really can't make sense of it. I know he has a big ego and made media missteps through the years. But come on -- Nobody has a bigger ego than Michael Jordan. Great players and leaders are wired like that.

He's a family oriented man who gives back to his community. He raised two sons with the same woman -- go read about the sexual exploits of 80's and 90's NBA stars.

Disclaimer: I'm a numbers-oriented person who thrives on player stats. I have many NBA/NFL/MLB records memorized. Statistically, Lebron just doesn't have an equal. His ranking in several categories is historic and may outlive us all. There's no reason to argue that point.

I need somebody to explain the hatred for this guy. What is it about Lebron that gets SO many people riled up?

For me it was the media hype machine and to be honest I don't think Lebron really has any say in that. From HS to now he gets more coverage than any other athlete I've ever seen and the news story fatigue is my only annoyance with him.

Elite player, amazing leader and seems to be a great family man as well.

He's not Michael Jordan and has a personality that grates on some people. Also, people perceive him as not having the killer mentality that other greats like MJ amd Kobe did and think this era of basketball is "softer" and thus, easier to put up numbers.

Too far, in my humble opinion. Labron had a terrific series and did drive the team. And, that last Cleveland title was absolutely driven by Lebron. Amazing what he's doing at 39.

A Kobe Bryant led Lakers team wouldn't have gave up a 12 point lead going into 4th Quarter and a 9 point lead with 6 minutes left.

They called Kobe the "Mamba" for a reason he was a cold blooded assassin who would rip the other teams heart out.

Plus as a Lakers fan how many times did you see Kobe rip into Pau Gasol's *** on the sidelines or on the court. Kobe demanded greatness from his teammates. Number 1 reason Dwight Howard hated Kobe.

LeBron has traits of Shaq. Shaq was a tremendous player, but he has said in his own words he was not singularly driven like Kobe. It took guys and good coaches to push Shaq. People don't describe Shaq as the goat, but for a time he was the most physically dominant player.

LeBron doesn't have people who can push him like that because he has a gravitational pull like no other. He also seems to want to control things, but dislikes blame. He is still great physically and unmatched longevity wise, but he's not the guy I build a playoff team around.

Lol. I'm not a disciple and demand nothing. Just asking a question.

He's not my favorite player all-time (Bird) and I don't think he's the most valuable player ever (Kareem). Not so coincidentally, those two players also have huge egos and were notoriously hard to get along with. Again, leaders and winners.

I'm not a hater. . . aside from thinking that no shoe should ever have a college logo or mascot on them. I have some boat shoes that look like them. . . they actually may even be that brand.
