I don't mind if they get hurt in regular, legal play It's part of it, and I do like the advantage if it happens. . .I won’t secretly, as I’ve said, the goal is to get the advantage in a football game. I don’t want to see a kid taken out by a career ending injury, BUT, if he has to leave the field because he’s bruised and battered, well it’s football and a contact sport. That’s what you signed up for, and I’m a mom of a prior football player.
Lol nah you’re arguing with yourself at this point. I edited it because I’m not arguing with you any longer, little one. You’ll be okGood edit on your part.
You made a crap argument, then moved onto a new red herring about a 10-3 SEC Champion being left out of a 12 team playoff.
Say that again - “A 10-3 SEC Champion being left out of 12 team playoff”
Samesee, my son played both sides of the ball. Offensive line and DL. He used to tell me all teams played dirty. Sorta like ‘what stays in Vegas’….backwards I know, but I’m tired. When you see a pileup, there’s a lot of eye gouging, subtle punches and hits that will make a man ‘sing high notes’. Sorta like that picture we’ve seen of a UT playerI don't mind if they get hurt in regular, legal play It's part of it, and I do like the advantage if it happens. . .
I don't like the idea of encouraging players to twist someone's ankle off at the bottom of a pile or spearing someone, etc. to try to intentionally injure them beyond play.
So, lets run a hypothetical.
1. What happens if Joe Milton comes out and struggles again? Even if we pull out a win... where are ya'll?
In my mind, if Joe struggles and puts up a lackluster performance or is just sub-par (not even bad, just sub-par), then this season looks rough from here on out. This is the game that makes or breaks Joe going forward. It is also the game that sets the tempo going forward. If Joe doesn't perform to the level he should, we are rapidly coming to the very real decision of throwing Nico to the wolves. The schedule only gets worse from here. I think the coaches are secretly worried about this.
-We thought the simple play calling was because we were trying to hide our plays. That turned out to be not true.
-Some thought it was our receivers not catching the ball or not giving Joe good options. Heupel has guys running wide open all the time and our WR room is actually very good, only Thornton has struggled.
-Some think it is the Offensive line... maybe. But Spencer Rattler is doing FAR more with FAR less.
-Also, our RBs are killing it right now.
There really aren't valid excuses for us to be struggling like this, unless of course you factor in Milton and his leadership. This team just does not play with the same fire and something is off. So far Tennessee has had what should have been a cakewalk schedule up to this point and we have NOT looked good on offense like we should. Nico should have extensive playing time by now but because the offense has sputtered in cupcake games, he has little experience and playing time... not good.
I'm hoping it clicks for Joe, but I have major doubts and I am tired of wondering if Clemson Joe or Austin Peay Joe is going to show up. The inconsistency is a mood killer for this team.
I have decided to do grilled blackened chicken and smoked/grilled chicken liver kebabs with a nice chianti and some fava beans.
Where is your tailgate?
I want some of that!
Since my game invite buddy has bailed on me last minute, I will be walking around top level of G10 alone after the Vol Walk playing FMK all by my self (ranking ****, marry, or kill when you see three coeds walking)
An interesting statistic I took from one of Freak's posts.
People apparently "feel" like we are going much slower than we actually are. We lead the nation in plays per game-clock minute this year at 3.01.
That's not the only shock. Our regular season plays per minute last year was 2.91 -- and that slightly slower speed had the benefit of the old rules that stopped the clock much more often. That meant we could already be lined up at the moment the clock resumed. Another reason not to be surprised that Sabey pushed for the new rule.
None of that was included. How many plays per game are we averaging on offense this year? Points per play? Would be interesting to see if they are similar to last year.
2022 Rank | Team | Plays (12 games) | TOP
| Plays Per Minute | |
1 | Tennessee (SEC) | 879 | 302 | 2.91 |
2023 Rank | Team | Plays (4 games) | TOP | Plays Per Minute |
1 | Tennessee (SEC) | 280 | 93 | 3.01 |
2022 Rank | Team | Plays (4 game avg.) | TOP
| Plays Per Minute | |
1 | Tennessee (SEC) | 293 | 100.7 | 2.91 |
They just changed the rules this season…. that is why there is a huge uptick in sbs….. There will be over 1,000 more sbs this season than last year and success % has increased to over 80%. I bet teams start to value it more and a 100 stolen base guy will appear in the near future.Yet 100+ is practically unobtainable nowadays. The 40/40 club is pretty exclusive. Acuna setting a new standard defies time.
