June 22, 1930 - Operation Barbarossa
On June 22, 1941, Nazi Germany launched a surprise attack against the Soviet Union, its ally in the war against Poland. By the end of the year, German troops had advanced hundreds of miles to the outskirts of Moscow. Soon after the invasion, mobile killing units began the mass murder of Soviet Jews. German military and civilian occupation policies led to the deaths of millions of Soviet prisoners of war and Soviet civilians.

Three million German soldiers crossed the border. This effectively ended the nonaggression pact that the two countries had concluded before the invasion of Poland in 1939. There were three fronts: one aimed for the Baltic States in the north, a second was headed towards Moscow and a third attacked Ukraine and southern Russia.

The German invasion surprised the Soviet leadership. Stalin, the country's dictator, had not believed that Germany was sufficiently prepared for war. But then, neither was he, and so the German troops were able to advance without much resistance. Hitler hoped that winning the war would not take long, because the strategic position and the grain and oil reserves of the Soviet Union were indispensable if Germany wanted to keep Europe in its grip. During the first nine months of the advance, one million German soldiers were killed.

The invasion was a massive failure, as the German army lost World War II on the Eastern Front. For most of the war, 75-80 percent of the Wehrmacht had to be deployed in the East, a preponderance dictated by the sheer size of the front, and 80 percent of German war dead perished there: about four million of the five million German soldiers killed in World War II.

I'm glad we didn't. Baseball is a huge momentum sport. These boys didn't need it 💪
not sure how accurate that is…. neither florida or Texas A&M won a game in the SEC Tourney…. Fla State made it to the championship but was thumped 16-4. Either way…. Let’s get started on winning a championship today!!! Go Vols!!

On June 22 1981, John McEnroe throws a tantrum in his 7-6 (5), 7-5, 6-3 first-round win over Tom Gullikson on the opening day at Wimbledon. McEnroe’s return of Gullickson’s serve is ruled out by chair umpire Edward James. McEnroe shouts his famous line, “You cannot be serious.” He then calls James the “the pits of the world” and an “incompetent fool.” Tournament referee Fred Hoyles is called to the court after James hits McEnroe with a point penalty. After McEnroe’s arguments with Hoyle go unsatisfied, Gullikson holds serve and McEnroe curses Hoyle on the changeover, prompting another point penalty. He is later fined $1,500.

We went to the LIV golf tournament today in College Grove. It was actually a lot of fun. The players were all very accessible, and happy to interact with the crowd. We walked with Sergio, Dustin Johnson, and Terrell Hatton for a while, and ended up following Phil Mickelson and his group for the last few holes. I'm 52 and initially hated the idea of LIV but it was actually really fun. Anthony Kim looks ROUGH BTW.
I was there as well. You're right, most of the guys were very gracious. My son's gf's little boy got 13 autographs alone yesterday morning as the players were coming off the putting green. We followed Bryson DeChambeau and Rahm a few holes and the moved over to the 14th green and spent a couple of hours there watching several groups. At my age, I definitely couldn't have walked and played that couse, especially in that heat lol.

The McEnroe vs Jimmy Connors was the reason I began watching Tennis.

Johnnie Mac was good for at least 2 temper tantrums and 4 racquets broke per match.

Don’t abuse drugs and you’ll be fine.

Guess Kim never learned that.
