This reminded me when I moved on campus in 2003, they were hailing the new wifi, was like “what urgent need would there be to need to plop down in some hallway on campus with my laptop to access internet, nonsense, I have a CAT-5 cable and I’m gonna use it as God intended. Nonsense”

I will tell you what need... Back when UT was doing the wireless initiative one of our professors was a part of it and we were going to do laptops in the classroom. The other half was a Research Assistant for that project and so when we arrived without enough time to park, I told him to go on to class to help setup while I found a place to park. When I finally made it to class, I noticed that every laptop was out and every student glued to their laptops.

The OH said "New York has been bombed or something at the World Trade Towers." I'd been in NYC just after the first bombing during Clinton's era and had spent New Year's Eve there 2 years prior and I was all "that's ok they've done that before -it'll be fine - no big deal." And he was like "no, you don't understand...." and pointed to the screen.

So the day that launched was Sep. 11, 2001. We spent that class using the laptops to find out what was happening and contacting relatives. I followed the events on the BBC because at the time CNN had a paywall. The day's syllabus was supposed to be the basics - how to use wifi and care for your laptop.

Yes and we also made a strong-a$$ offer to Bellinger. But, the Cubs still need some pitching, imo. We were ahead of the Diamondbacks and Marlins with about 2 weeks to go and choked. Our closer going on the DL for a minute killed us

Losing Alzaloy was why we didn’t make the playoffs. Cubs blew 5-6 saves in the last month without him. Also if Suzuki doesn’t miss the pop up the Diamondbacks don’t make the playoffs

Say it louder, Tim. Needs more attention.

Just ban Dallas Turner: he should be done permanently. Sankey does whatever he wants: he has no excuse but his criminal bias holding him back. No need to counter that it's not permitted: rigging games is not "permitted," but it happens every week. Birmingham is a completely lawless regime.

Birmingham, as I continue to emphasize, is endangering player safety with its game rigging. Perhaps Daniels' family should sue. It's apparently going to require something like that, since Birmingham has all member schools in a stranglehold, and there is no one else to appeal to.

Not only do you have the Turner assault on Daniels. You have all the Turner illegal hits and deliberate injuries permitted in the past that encouraged this latest assault. So as usual Birmingham encourages dangerous and illegal play by refusing to enforce rules on Bama. Clearly Saban teaches dirty play, and even goes so far as to excuse his player's assaulting a coed. Let Birmingham and Tuscaloosa be sued together. They're joined at the hip, anyway.

Not only do you have the Turner assault on Daniels. You have all the Turner illegal hits and deliberate injuries permitted in the past that encouraged this latest assault. And, as usual, Birmingham encourages dangerous and illegal play by refusing to call it on Bama. Clearly Saban teaches dirty play, and even excuses his players assaulting coeds. Let Birmingham and Tuscaloosa be sued together. They're joined at the hip, anyway.
If Tyler Baron had done that to Jalin Milroe it would've been targeting and a league-issued suspension.

I'd say I'm surprised Dallas Turner didn't take out Hendon Hooker last year but Hendon is tough as nails and Darnell Wright owned his a$$ in Neyland
Bama committed an atrocious targeting penalty on Hooker in the 2021 game, as you recall. It was clearly intentional targeting intended to injure HH so severely that he couldn't continue. And the Birmingham SEC crew fully endorsed the behavior by refusing to call the blatant foul.

The SEC's ongoing rigging of outcomes is beyond a shadow of a doubt resulting in short- and long-term injuies to student athletes. And risking player safety every week. It's criminal.

Didn't he lose a tooth in the hit?

Hey I enrolled in 2003. All my roommates were engineers. Which engineering discipline were you?

I also thought the cat 5 in my room was the peak of the internet. That slow spotty wifi was for the birds.
