Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Any defender can fall down and fake an injury at any time, even before the play starts as in the UNLV video I posted. Therefore a defender need not get stuck on the field when he can fall down at anytime faking an injury. As it is right now, any team can stop TN's uptempo offense at any time with any defender flopping and nothing happens.
So, tell me *when* Lane Kiffin trots the 3rd stringer into the game, planning for a future fake injury to stop the game. That's the rub here. If UT isn't subbing, and that's what the defense is trying to counter, WHEN does Lane put the third stringer in?

Just before UT snaps the ball with a 10-man defense on the field?

Or when UT is going slow and substitutes, thus the 3rd stringer will need to play some downs until UT goes fast and the fake injury is needed?

Or just after Lane calls a timeout to stop the clock and substitute for a 3rd stringer, so they can fake an injury to stop the clock and get a free timeout?

It seems like an odd thing for us to worry about when discussing rule changes to counter fake injuries that stop the clock when tempo offenses aren't subbing.

Boston College Eagles.
Boston College Baked Beans sounds better.

Or, to take an old MLB name, the Boston College Bean Eaters.

Too many "Eagles" in football. Need more original names.

Not as overused as "Bulldogs" though. FFS we have two bulldogs just in our conference. No Originality.
