People don’t have to like it (I don’t) but getting mad at Danny White like some of our fans are doing online currently is stupid. He either adapts to the new environment, or Tennessee falls behind. We may be the first to announce this, but we won’t be the last. Just like we were the first to announce on field sponsorships (Pilot) and others have yet to do so. He’s a trailblazer, which is why we are where we are on the field.

Trust me, I don’t like the continued nickle and diming of fans. It sucks. But the genie is out of the bottle and this is what happens after years of screaming for college athletes to get a piece of the pie. It’s not “Tennessee’s fault”. This is just where college athletics is headed.

It’s an arms race and it’s not going to slow down. Does a head coach need to make $10 million annually for college sports? No. But either you pay them or someone else takes them. Do college facilities need to be shinier with insane bells and whistles that some pro facilities don’t even have? No. They don’t. But either you spend money and build it or you lose recruits. I’m not really sure how you solve it other than continue to spend more money. It just is what it is.

Yes! It’s always been this way especially in football, SEC FOOTBALL.
I remember hearing about the first million dollar coach‘s contract. I remember when coaches got fired the money STOPPED.
Someone wanted a coach so bad they promised to pay him even if they fired him.
In all these instances other schools had to follow along or get left behind. Same today.

I don't know about him being racist. I think he's just kind of dumb and likes to party too hard. And I agree, saying the n word is wrong and should not be said by anyone. But, I'll admit, some of those rap songs are catchy. You just have to be extra careful if you're white and want to sing them. You can lose everything, especially if someone catches you on video repeating Wu-Tang or NWA songs.

I lived in Oklahoma for a good chunk of my childhood and have been reading Barry Trammel since I was 10 years old. He doesn’t sugar coat anything. Nor does he bash OU at every turn. He’s a straight shooter. I’m surprised at his comments on TB.

It did. $40 on a $400 seat. Poster was prolly thinking of how much he tips a waitress (15% or more) without raising hell with the restaurant.

Ticketmaster is out of control. And none of that goes to our players. They do the same thing with concerts. I don't see fans screaming at their favorite band about it.

Ticketmaster is out of control. And none of that goes to our players. They do the same thing with concerts. I don't see fans screaming at their favorite band about it.

For initial ticket sales, a chunk of that does go back to the university. But for resale tickets, ya, it's all Ticketmaster. Insane they've been able to keep that model without anyone replicating it and charging far less.

The thing that worries me. . . because I'm a Tennessee fan. . . Is OU's QB running. He's got some legs. I hope our ends keep him inside and let our LBs destroy him if he decides to run. I think we're faster than anyone they've played on defense, so he may have looked better at running than he really is.

Yeah, I was talking about resale. I think that is how most or very many non-season ticket holders get tickets. So that is a significant part of the sticker shock.

Do you remember when we won the CWS and Morgan Wallen skipped the "on the field" celebration but promised to make it up to Knoxville. He later went on to announce he was doing a concert, in Neyland Stadium, during football season. Oh the best part was that tickets were starting out at $100 each, because he loved the fans and UT so much. He's even having 2 shows to make sure everyone knows how much he loves the VOLS and how sorry he was for not high fiving Christian Moore after the game. Well, this is the week. Enjoy

The article I read (and I'm looking at it again now for confirmation) says 10% "talent fee" plus an "initial 4.5% average increase". Love the use of the word "initial". That means they're already planning future increases.

If we just do some quick round math for 2025 tickets:

7 home games X 100,000 fans X ~$40 average per ticket increase = $28 mil

Maybe $40 average per ticket is liberal...maybe it's actually less per ticket (some will be more, some less obv)...

$40 isn't breaking the bank if you're committed to going to a game anyway. JMO
