Recruiting Football Talk VIII

That is part of it but NC State also ran a version of it which slowed us down at the start but I figured we already knew how to scheme around it now.
Nc state doesn’t have the athletes to compare. They got worn down. NC State also has a slightly different scheme, uses 3 deep safeties, we ran power more to have a lead blocker into that 2nd level.

Nico isn’t great. He’s good and fairly accurate but combined with bad OL he’s not going to shine. Hooker made big play after big play. Not sure what has happened, we don’t go fast like we used to, we don’t take shots deep, Nico has been accurate over the middle yet we don’t try it at all tonight… Idk why Heupel has gotten away from what he does best which is go fast and attack… defense gave up only 19 and we couldn’t win… just honestly a terrible performance. We are probably looking at 8-4 maybe 9-3 if we beat UF which is probably unlikely.

So many mistakes that ended up costing us that game. Squirrel not fielding the punt which pushed us back, then dropped a ball for a first down. Then another drop the next play, which set up there game winning drive.

Not to mention all the penalties
Just another road collapse. I thought our defense would be good enough to save us this year when it happened, and it almost was.

But not quite.

Oh would you look at that. Like I’ve been saying, teams are running a different defense in order to stop our offense. We have to adjust and until then we’ll continue to struggle

This pisses me off too because they have seen this defense before so adjust.

If it’s that easy to stop our offense we then change it.

Yards equal points. It did tonight. He couldn't stop a back up qb when he had to. We never went run heavy defense the whole drive. Patrino abused him.
If yards equaled points Arkansas would have scored a helluva lot more than 19 lol. Banks is very far on the list of people to blame tonight

He raised his arm up to try and miss the kicker. But still ended up hitting him while trying to dodge him.

Well I guess he should have kept his arms down and tried to juke around the punter. Hitting the punter in the head with both arms raised was the most obvious way to draw a flag.

Nico can’t read the defenses, that’s why we go slower. He can’t make those changes at the line like Hooker did.

Mhmmmmm. Thats the counterpoint against Met.... Its not as simple as block this guy, its a flow, and we barely run outside, so they know they basically know they have to stop 2 gaps on every run play.

One thing ive complained about since day 1. Heup doesnt let his QB pull it enough. backside defenders crash hard and we never pull it.

He did with hooker unless hooker called his own number on those plays but Nico is faster and has better agility than hooker..so I have no clue why he won’t allow Nico to do it more.if he would have done that a couple of times throughout the game.the defense would have backed off and respected Nico running the ball…we never kept the defense honest the whole game and that’s the difference..

I’ve not seen one thing implemented in this offense that’s changed since Alex left.so in my mind JH is just running what he has in the playbook hoping it works and he’s not been creative at all…I just hope it’s not a situation where Alex golesh was the creative mastermind behind our offensive play calling assuming the whole time it was Josh…if that’s the case then we are on borrowed time with fools gold..all things considered

Staff got lucky with Hooker and Golesh calling plays. The mask got pulled back a little last season, but it’s about to be fully exposed. We’ll wish we had made some tough decisions this December when we see the disaster we put on the field without Banks calling the defense in 2025.

I was baffled at how slow we went. Even after a first down we let the play clock go down to single digits.

Hooker was Heupel’s Knecht if we’re being honest.

But why did he have his arms raised up high enough to hit the counter in the helmet? He had no chance of blocking the punt.
He tried to side step after getting blocked. If his arms are out, he definitely hits the punter. It’s like when you are trying to walk through a narrow space and put your arms up to just use your torso. Punter flopped.

You’ll have to go back and watch it, but he tried to run through to block the punt.

He was on a dead sprint and when he almost got completely passed the blocker, the blocker shoved him while he was on a dead sprint.

When he got pushed it was in the direction of the punter and his body was in the air. He wasn’t able to change direction so he tried to raise his arm to avoid the punter.

I’ve been noticing Heard might not be all he’s hyped up to be since the first game. Chatt’s ends beat him on some plays. Maybe that’s why he wanted out of LSU cause their oline hasnt really been that great either and he couldn’t start.
Have any of the offensive portal guys been what they were Heuped up to be?

Really?? Kent st, Chatt or NC st production really is meaningless.

Have they done anything against good teams?
