Recruiting Football Talk VIII

He was nominated for the Broyles award before Heupel, so you answered your own question. UCF broke a record in rushing yards just like he’s essentially done at UT.

19 sacks is very, very good. I’m not sure what you are thinking with that. It’s less than 1.5 sacks per game, especially considering the number of plays the offense runs. There were 26 teams last year with less than 19 sacks. No poor UT team has given up half. There was one year under Dooley that was great.

He’s got a good history; don’t know where it goes from here.
2012 Vols say hello! 9 sacks allowed with a barred out drunk under center leading us to a 5-7 season. So yes, a bad Vols team has done and I have seent it.

You continue to overlook his Broyles award nomination was because he inherited a O-Line anchored by three seniors who started multiple years, in an offense with established success. Barry Odom had success before Heupel. I could have coached that line to a record that year. That rushing record you speak of at UCF? Another first year at a progrum and a steady regression after that. There’s a pattern that’s already recognizable if people are willing to look.

Elarbee has a proven history. His history repeatedly shows regression when he has to recruit and develop, and it’s a steady regression.

One takeaway I had from last night was just how many commercial breaks there were and how many times play was stopped. The game had absolutely zero flow and was actually really hard to watch imo.
Yup. They made the game clock run faster, but games are just as long as they were before. They filled that extra time with more commercials.

i just don't get how people think Barnes is overrated with what the basketball program was before he got here (besides with Pearl, who he's now surpassed)
Our fans beat their chest about him like he's won multiple national titles and makes final Fours consistently. He does neither of those things.

Last night was tough to watch. My two biggest surprises was the poor performance by the offensive line and Taylen Green playing a mistake free game.

On offense we couldn't run it consistently and we gave up a ton of stacks. They also had way too many penalities.

On defense we looked awful in the first quarter on 3rd and long. Green is a good athlete and can make big plays, but he's normally going to make a mistake. The only "mistake" he made was missing a wide open receiver in the first half. I was hoping for some turnovers.

Maybe a few do. Most are like me that I’ve seen, and realize he’s the best coach in program history even with his faults
He's the best so far because he has the most support. From a supposed HOF coach I expect better.

It's also my belief that our basketball history is bad because nobody cared for the longest as long as football was good, then we went through the string of complete morons in our admin. I believe with the support he's getting most coaches with a pulse could do what he's doing. He hasn't done anything special.

Maybe just maybe a little too full of ourselves just as Alabama was against Vanderbilt.

It happens when all you hear from the Media and fan base on how great you are right now.
And looking ahead to UF. Assumed we'd spank these guys akd focused on our rival.

Idk man TBA wasn't built in 2016. It's the 3rd biggest on campus arena. that's a lot of support to me.
