Not only is it the lack of holding calls, but like you said, the lack of live ball penalties. There are absolutely none. You don’t have to believe **** but you are on the losing side. At this point statistics is against you. It isn’t possible. Here we are half into the season and every OL in conference we have played has supposedly been 100% clean. lol - this is absurd.
Even worse, it’s been what, 1 or maybe 2 live ball penalties in the last 3 games we have played called against our opponents? I mean what the hell is going on here?
Need to run the read with him a few times early and let him get hit. I think he is like Dobbs… Calms down when he gets into the flow of the game.I think Nico’s confidence has been shaken. He’s missing deep balls that he was hitting earlier this season.
Heup has to be better at scheming this offense around Nico.
Until Heup starts saying something in front of the mic, nothing will change. They can send complaints to SEC office til the cows come home. They probably throw those in the garbage immediately and don’t even look at them.Pate has already brought it out. You just can’t put your head in the sand every week though. It has to be discussed.
Squirrel had plenty of separation on the long pass play. I mean, I’m not sure what else you want. Nico missed him by a foot.Definitely deserve respect on the highest level.
Sorry if this came across as disrespecting them. It definitely did, and didn’t mean to.
Just wish we had more separation, especially with all upper class WRs
To add on to that comment, I am talking about those that wish to steal their coach. I have to say that I'm thrilled with Heupel--he's beating Bama and has a winning record against Florida. Because of the way our team started, I tend to forget how young Nico is.One thing about being a coach at Vandy, they will stand with him even if he loses every game next year. (See Florida State)
Heupel definitely showed his feelings on the one called on Campbell. I’m just not sure about what coaches think about it publicly. I know he doesn’t care about a fine, but it’s like they think they lose credibility publicly if they call it out.Until Heup starts saying something in front of the mic, nothing will change. They can send complaints to SEC office til the cows come home. They probably throw those in the garbage immediately and don’t even look at them.
You guys keep talking about last night, I’m talking about as a whole.Squirrel had plenty of separation on the long pass play. I mean, I’m not sure what else you want. Nico missed him by a foot.
Squirrel had a fantastic Orange Bowl. He made unreal catches against USCe last year and against Bama last year. He’s not a big guy that can be used out wide even though we’ve tried it. He was a 3 star, who I think has contributed greatly to our program. My guess is he’s banged up right now and still playing. You guys keep talking about last night, I’m talking about as a whole.
He and Bru have been disappointing against true good teams, which is the only thing that matters.
Squirrel against top 25 teams in his career:
8 games, 408 yards, 2 TDs, 9.8avg
But against too 25 teams in his Vols career:
9 games, 579 yards, 3 TDs, 14.3avg
Like I said in previous messages, they have been disappointing. Bru gets more of a pass than Squirrel does due to being injured most of last season, but my point about him being moved to TE stands. He’s basically a faster TE, that’s it.
Honestly, fair points.Squirrel had a fantastic Orange Bowl. He made unreal catches against USCe last year and against Bama last year. They’ve got to start getting Sampson in the pass game too along with our tight ends.My post game thoughts.
Telander and A Carter are awesome!
McCoy shut down their best receiver Wilson.
R Gipson is a playmaker that will clean up mistakes with more playing time. The plays he did make were massive however.
Our DLine is soooo good. Florida played a version of goal line jumbo set most of the game and we still collapsed the pocket.
Literally all of Florida’s passing yards and most running yards came from busts from a young linebacker that was forced to play with Pili injury. I don’t like calling a young player out by name.
More Brazzel needed! He is our best “snatch” WR with Bru’s injury. I want to see Matthews a lot post Bama game.
Nico needs to start looking right. He is missing wide open targets. Especially our Tight Ends to the sideline.
Nico needs to start hitting the safety valve just over the LOS. It was open nearly all day.
Offensive line needs to improve.
This was our worst special teams game outside of two punts and one McCoy return. Our return men play scared. There are too many times Squirrel allows the ball to bounce costing us 20+ yards. McCoy had a chance at a big return and played safe. We lost contain on back to back punts (last was a block in the back). Florida realized that it was best to pressure the punter to force left footed punts. Hope we have an answer to that. I was relieved at least McCoy isn’t afraid to catch the ball in traffic to save yardage.
This is Sampson’s team period and we need to play it that way. He needs 25 touches a game period.
I love that we Florida’d Florida for once. They outplayed us and lost. Their fans had to lose a night of sleep on what ifs this year.
Those aren’t bad numbers for Bru. That’s about 65 yards a game and not taking into account the impact he has as a blocker. You guys keep talking about last night, I’m talking about as a whole.
