Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Maybe unpopular opinion: I thought the play calling was much better last night. You saw them trying to do different things like rolling Nico out. We also schemed men open down field which we didn’t see in the Arkansas game.

Like I said last night, IF we start executing Bama is absolutely beatable
2nd half plan needs to be the entire game plan.

There were receivers open all night. If it was 7v7 we would have scored 120.

a good holding call?

Was it holding. Yes, but I’ve seen substantially worse on a constant basis on HUGE plays against us that are never called. Also I see that not called everywhere all the time. Holding is one of the most frustrating penalties in football because of the inconsistency and also the severity of the penalty

If that’s holding then Florida had at least 7-8 of them. Big hold on Lagway’s 3rd and 18 throw missed too

You guys keep talking about last night, I’m talking about as a whole.

He and Bru have been disappointing against true good teams, which is the only thing that matters.

Squirrel against top 25 teams in his career:
8 games, 408 yards, 2 TDs, 9.8avg

But against too 25 teams in his Vols career:
9 games, 579 yards, 3 TDs, 14.3avg

Like I said in previous messages, they have been disappointing. Bru gets more of a pass than Squirrel does due to being injured most of last season, but my point about him being moved to TE stands. He’s basically a faster TE, that’s it.
Not sure we have receiver that would get much PT on the 22 team. A little concerning about either Heupel's recruiting or development.

No teams in conference games are called fair. So now we've switched the narrative. Earlier it was the blame game on Nico and CJH, happy we went full circle back to old reliable.

The Officiating will never change , beat that horse all you guys want.
Why is it not happening to Alabubba or Georgia or Blowhio St.
Or practically anyone else?

Revisionist history. Keyton drove everyone nuts with his inconsistency. Bru and squirrel were actually on that team and made plays. We are fine. It’s getting them the ball; not them. Nico will improve.

Gonna enjoy this win all day before I switch gears to 🐘

But… we had one scoring drive from our end of the field. Everything else… Defense + OT gave us the field to win.

That’s not scalable against a better team.
Offense is gonna have to manifest momentum more than once against Bama.

I think it’s valid argument especially if the defensive line hasn’t had been called for one hold all year? That is crazy to me

That’s what I think too. I hope we get an answer

Nimrod dropped at least 2 passes and also ran the wrong route on our last drive in regulation. He’s definitely got potential and could break out eventually but this is not the year

Idk why we don’t see any Matthews at all
Because we need the excuse that he hasn’t seen any PT next year when he looks like an undeveloped Fr with great potential
