Recruiting Football Talk VIII

So Sampson needs 8 TDs to hit 38 for his career (1st all-time), 2 TDs to hit 19 for the season (1st all-time).

vs Kentucky (12th in SEC in rushing TDs allowed)
vs Miss State (16th in SEC in rushing TDs allowed)
at Georgia (6th in SEC in rushing TDs allowed)
vs UTEP (gives up 2.1 a game, same as Miss State)
at Vandy (11th in SEC in rushing TDs allowed)

I think he's got a damn good shot, I believe he'll have surpassed 18 before going to Athens.
Hey will be over 20 by Georgia.

The single season is more important. Players play various length careers in college; so, the all time career leader isn’t as significant as it is in the pros.

Funny how I’ve not heard anything about Hurd in the NFL.
They must not realize what a talent he is!!
Meanwhile, Everyone knows who Kamara is!
Kamara was twice the talent of Hurd, Lyle was to stupid to see it.

I’ve figured out who Dobbs 4 Hiesman is!!
How you been doing Butch
To be fair, Hurd averaged 4.7 YPC in his true freshman year. Sure, Kamara could have gotten more touches in 2015, but Hurd wasn't bad at 4.6 YPC then. We also had a running QB, so Dobbs took some carries, too.

It seemed like there were a few times they put them in the game together, and it worked. Should have done that more.

A Quiet Place
I Am Legend
World War Z
Alien

*We don't watch a lot of scary/horror movies. I guess 'I Am Legend' is one of my favorite scary style movies.

Signs is a good one too but it's more suspensful.

What time are you wanting us to come over??? We'll be good.... we promise

Signs is a classic. It was well produced and acted. The twist at the end is typical M Night Shyamalan, but the moviegoing experience was memorable and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

I’ve really enjoyed some of his recent ones, Old, & Trap. A bit silly but very fun in the theater just like signs was. Some movies are best with 50 other strangers in the room watching. Bring back the theatrical experience imo.

His show servant is also very good

I would say there's always a shot...

2023 draft Bijan Robinson went 8th and Jahmyr Gibbs went 12th. But neither has really justified their draft spot to this point.

Jeanty and Ollie Gordon will both come off the board before D Samp. He could be anywhere from the 3rd to 6th RB drafted.

Oddity was so good. I did some work with one of the co production companies on that— Nowhere. Shudder had done a great job this past year with helping funding/distributing solid indie horror films. Similar to Mubi this year with their purchases at Cannes
That first jump scare (tent) got me worse than I’ve been got in a minute. Agreed on Shudder really killing it this year.

As of October 24th I can't say that with any confidence.

I think Ollie will have to show out at the combine because of how bad OK State has been this year. Jeanty is most likely going to be the 1st RB taken if he's healthy.

Sampson will also need to stay healthy and have a good combine, but if he does that there's a very real shot the argument becomes him or Jeanty as the 1st RB taken.

He was plagued by injuries in San Fran.

Your argument actually works against you if you knew the situation. Nobody in his shoes would ever get the chance he did, he only got the chance because they knew how much talent he had if he could ever get back healthy

Injuries ended Hurd's career, not his talent. Bad argument. Both Hurd and Kamara are two of the best RBs we've ever had. Personally I think Kamara was better.

The way I understood it being on campus at the time, Hurd didn't want to leave UT. He wanted to switch positions (TE or WR) because of the concussions and injuries he was sustaining due to Butch giving him too many carries. The broken promises on I-formation and Butch not letting him switch positions (he's not a players coach) ultimately made him transfer. Dude was a Vol through and through. A diva, but he loved/loves UT. Blame Butch.

Since 2013, only 12 have gone in the first round. So about 1 a year.

Jeanty has a good shot.

And while they might not statistically match Sampson, guys like Omarion Hampton and or Ollie Gordon or the kid at Miami might get higher draft grades than Sampson.

Don’t get me wrong - I’d love for Sampson to go round one. I just don’t se it.
I get that running backs are not edge rusher or left tackle value. All I was trying to say is that Sampson is a top back in the country and no one woulda thunk it when he was a freshman, that's all.
The top 1 or 2 backs do often go in the first round, if it's 12 in the last 12 years, that's 1 a year. (I'm real gooderer at math)
