Happy Wednesday

October 30, 2024: Check yourself and confirm the Lord is your first Love. Do you continue to have a zeal to live your life serving God, or have you made prayer another chore? It is time to stir yourself up and renew your fervor to have real relationship with Christ instead of your service being just a habit. Hebrews 10:22-23 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Looking at this "epic" 3 vs 4 matchup this week.

Both teams have faced 1 AP ranked team this year.

Penn State beat Illinois at home 21-7. PSU has also struggled to beat Bowling Green and USC. Kent State is the only team they dominated this year.

Ohio State's only ranked win was against Iowa at the time. Iowa is now 3-2. They lost to Oregon and struggled to beat Nebraska at home. They did dominate the balance of their schedule (Akron, W. Michigan, Marshall, MI ST, and Iowa).

PSU does not have another ranked team on their schedule. If they win Saturday, they will go undefeated and play for a conference championship. Even if they lost that game, they would be 12-1, they will be a playoff team and one that everyone will want to play. Imagine if they lose this game against their only ranked opponent and get in.

Ohio State only has Indiana after this game. I could see them losing this game, winning out, avoiding a conference championship and still getting in the playoff at 11-2. On the strength of ranked wins against Iowa and Indiana??????

Honestly, this game doesn't matter for either of them. If they win out after this game the media will put them both in the playoff. I think the Big 10 gets three in.

Other playoff teams ACC.

Miami has zero wins against ranked teams and does not play a ranked team until the conference championship.

Clemson plays Pitt in three weeks and that will be their only other ranked opponent outside of Georgia (who slaughtered them).

Pitt plays SMU this weekend and plays Clemson in three weeks. Pitt has not played a ranked opponent this year.

SMU has a loss to BYU and has not beaten another ranked team. They still have Pitt on the schedule.

Miami is more than likely in the playoff even if they lose the conference championship. The question will be if Clemson, Pitt, or SMU will join them.

Along with the Big 10, that's 5 playoff teams and only 7 spots left.

Yeah, can you blame him? Just play the kid.
On this whole Mike Mathews thing, once again the consensus on Volnation runs down the rabbit hole of "the coaches are idiots for not playing insert up and coming player here." Last year it was Nico, a few years ago it was Harrison Bailey. Every year it is somebody. This brain dead knee jerk only takes second place to "Insert coach name here is completely incompetent and needs fired yesterday."
Having not seen one practice and with next to no knowledge of what is really going on people deem a player the solution to all problems. If MM were ready and the coaches thought he would be a significant contributor, you can bet your sweet hiney his azz would be in the game.
Most fans are just like the talking heads, boldly making predictions and proclaiming solutions with insider knowledge and when they are wrong or it goes badly, they are nowhere to be found or they rewrite history.
In my experience the real coaches who are idiots are the ones that listen to the fans, they usually end up looking like fools. Saban didn't give a 50 lb bag of rat poison about what the fans thought.

Big 12 has three contenders. BYU, Iowa State, and Kansas State.

Iowa State has zero ranked wins and only plays Kansas State that is ranked. Maybe Utah can beat them also. They face their two toughest games the final two games and a conference championship if they win those. They would need to be 12-1 to get in IMO.

Kansas State lost to BYU and has zero ranked wins. They would need to beat Iowa State and win the conference championship to get in. We should probably root for them to do this.

BYU has only one ranked win against Kansas State and only one tough game left against Utah. They will more than likely be undefeated going into the conference championship. If they play Iowa State in that game, there is a chance both get in. If they play K-State, then only one get in.

We need all of them to get upset, or we need BYU to run the table and Kstate to beat Iowa State.

1 gets in and possibly two leaving a max of 4 spots and a minimum of three spots left.
