Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Glad they didn't keep us out of the Sugar Bowl because Tony Robinson was out for the season.

Are they considering that our only loss was with our OTs injuried? (rhetorical)
I'm going on the committee saying they're taking injuries into consideration this year. If a team loses a star player (FSU last year, UT in 22) that'll affect their decision. It wasn't a deliberate statement in year's past though.

I have not seen one person apologize to Max Gilbert. Just an incredible bounce back game from him and I hear crickets from the many of you that wanted him thrown in the river.
He never deserved the criticism he got. He had 1 bad performance after being rock solid all season.

And the kicks weren't even his fault. Bad holds and snaps on all 3 last week.

Not the ideal game to be the walking wounded headed into Athens. They are gonna be like sharks after blood with that beat down from Ole Piss. Kirby will do everything in his power to have them on another level this week.

I never trust Heupel with injury news and don’t think Nico will actually play. Their DL gonna feast on our OL, with or without Nico. With our porous OL and the DL who can’t stop the run the last two games my BVS has flared back up.

Sorry fellas, throw me into the river because I don’t see us coming out of Athens with a dub and think our playoff hunt ends there unfortunately. They will look for the smallest of cracks in us to knock us out of CFP contention.
I would have disagreed up until last night when I saw the video of Nico walking out with his family. That didn’t look good, to me. Hopefully he’s just a bit shook and has a very mild concussion. But that video was sus.

We need second half Sampson and second half Oline for a full game next week. The only negative outcome would be a 15+ point loss. Win or close game we’ll be in a great position for the playoffs.
If UGA would have beaten Ole Miss and we would have lost to UGA by a FG or less then I’d say a 2nd loss possibly gets us in still. I think it’s win out or we’re out.

watched highlights:

several things occurred.

1. Norman Lott, Pearce. granted there were double teams, those two were lone bright spot. what happened to our depth?

2. defensive play calling. thought this was one of worse games banks has had this year. weren't able to get home consistently, really until msu had to pass.

hard to argue with 14 points. thought MSU had waay too many wide open holes. right up middle, second level collapsed way too easily.

why are we run blitzing with this line? seemed we were guessing, and got gashed more than once.

3. Secondary. Man, where would we be? These guys consistently play well.

4. Sampson. What can you say? On pulling play for last score, got a couple blocks but made that happen himself.

5. Offensive execution. Couple bright spots. But once again, to me. They arent playing well.

6. Max Gilbert - what a turn of events?

Especially if its the teams starting QB or Star QB. FSU would've got in last season if Jordan Travis hadn't have got injured. Don't care how much the media window lickers for Alabama campaigned for them.

2022 neither Bama nor Tennessee was getting into the CFP in the end .

I’m normally positive but I had my gripes about Banks yesterday. That QB from MSST was never beating us with his arm. Running cheetah fronts and vacating LBers was killing me. Sat there with my son saying every time we go small up front Lebby checks to middle run. The strength of state was their guards and center. Banks deserved all the credit for Oklahoma, Bama, and NCST. Our defense was not great against misdirection teams like Arkansas, Florida and run fits with MSST. Kentucky was neutral.

My question is why are we run blitzing with this line? Where was the line until last 10 minutes? Those holes werent creases. They were massive.

I think our situation is a little different. Our defense is what is carrying this team and it's not like Moore is a freshman with no experience. 5th year senior with plenty of experience in the system should be looked at differently. Not a homer just what it is. All the defense the last 25 years that have accomplished what this defense has done have went on to win the National Championship. GBO 🍊 💪 Fight On !!!

Wait, Banks is a bad coach again?

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a positive take/outlook from you.

Taken from the football forum, the fact there are ppl in football forum that know more about ball than some in recruiting forum is not ideal…btw we only gave 271 yards

“They were willing to give up the middle rushing lanes to cutoff the outside passing. They had 2 RBs that averaged 6.3YPC and almost all of that was up the gut. Their QB had a QBR of like 26 and only threw for 90-something yards. I really believe Banks and company were willing to sacrifice what they would give up in the run down the middle to shut everything else down and it worked. It looked uglier than it really was I believe. I was also critical of the D-Line not getting to the QB, but the two plays by Eason and Jenkins were huge at critical times during the game. So I feel my criticism was not correct specific to the D-Line.”
