Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Early lines this week were UGA -13.5, so i dont think the injury is really much in play. The only thing that keeps heavy betting on UT is the unknown with Nico. UGA can't score until the second half. We shut teams down in the second half. I'd take us to cover with or without Nico. If UGA gets a lead, they're gonna nurse it and play keep away.
Not sure they can play keep away against our defense though. It’s too good. I think Nico plays and was just concussed. Likely why he has the towel over his head.

SHOULD, WOULD, COULD and WILL leaves a lot of room for respectfuldiscussion without ***hole initial responses to my posts.

I have not once said that we WILL miss the playoffs, or that Bama WILL get in ahead of us. All I've done is given logical reasons why (that same thing y'all seem to agree is possible) is possible.

Yet here we are, with me defending a premise that y'all agree with against ***hole, sarcastic condescension.

Yay VN.

I'll reiterate.

We're in a more precarious position with 2 losses than we thought a probable two losses would look like before the season started. Thus, we need to win out to make it a surety. Thankfully we still have our own destiny in our hands, so let;s do it.

Anyone that still wants to play ****-measuring after the 50th time I've explained that point can kick rocks. They've lost my good will and willingness to waste any more time on them.
I never was once condescending. I guess you can lump everyone in one box though.

Looks like his head whipped into the ground a little bit.
Yeah. From a different angle I saw last night it looked like his head bounced pretty hard off the turf. That memory was the first thing that (involuntarily) came to mind the second I woke up. Terrible way to wake up. I don't think it's a shoulder, either. I think we beat Georgia.

If we’re top 4 in the CFP poll on Tuesday, we’re in at 10-2 imo. We’d just be fighting for a 1st round bye if we win out or getting a 1st round home game. Can’t drop us 8 spots over the next two weeks unless we completely get Boat Raced.

Since you've used that word so often, can you please tell us the specific fallacy in question? Thanks.
Saying our game is an elimination game as an absolute….is a fallacy, sure it very well could be but you can say the same for every team in the top 12…they still have games to play too. You can’t just look at Tenn you have to look at other variables outside of our own conference as well

Who has called it an 'absolute' elimination game? I'll go back and look, but I'll just drop here that strawman arguments are an actual fallacy.

I’m beginning to think we might just be pretty damn good

We have held all sec teams to under 20

Our offense is getting better even though th oline can’t block anything sometimes

Bama has scored a ton on everyone except us and that’s bc we stopped them and dominated them in the second half

Florida is pretty good when they weren’t hurt at QB

Uk beat ole miss

Arky was a bad deal

We have had the potential to beat the brakes off teams and are getting closer by the week to doing that

This team is pretty damn good and we shouldn’t be intimidated at all going to UGA. History doesn’t matter with this team

The fact you can’t see that both argument’s are “strawman” is your problem. They are opinions based on predictions lol
That's ridiculous. Agreeing that we may get in, and we may not get in is not equal to making absolute claims. Also, it sounds like your argument (definition of 'fallacy') simply morphs and evolves as seems convenient for you.

(I'd ask you to show where anyone has misrepresented your argument, by the way, which is what 'strawman' means. Also, 'strawman' != 'discussing probabilities vs sureties/guarantees'. I'm not sure what definition of 'strawman' you're using here.))

It’s not an attack more of an attack on playing the “what if game” is kinda a fallacy, every team in the SEC vying for a playoff spot has to win out not just us…

So, at one point, you claimed the argument is a fallacy for discussing potentials. Now, you're claiming the fallacy is because folks are discussing (supposed) absolutes.

The fact that your definition of "fallacy" is fluid enough to be whatever you need it to be is, in fact, fallacious argumentation (i.e. a ham-handed version of equivocation).

As a matter of fact, screaming "fallacy" out of convenience is basically the definition of the "Fallacy Fallacy" (i.e. misrepresenting an opposing argument as 'fallacious' without showing how/why it's fallacious).
