Recruiting Football Talk VIII

This is absurd for multiple reasons. Penn State has played nobody and lost their only big game. There should not be 4 Big10 teams in the Top 5.

Also, now with Georgia's loss to Ole Miss and Bama drubbing LSU, Texas shouldn't be above Tennessee. I think that's a serious argument.

Vols have the better win and tougher schedule thus far, and losing big to UGA at home doesn't look as great.

It's all on us for letting our guard down in Fayetteville, but just beat Georgia and there's a real strong argument for us to be top 3

This doesn't show. . . how close 4, 5 & 6 are.

#4 - 1,274pts
#5 - 1,273
#6 - 1,270

Beat UGA and we easily jump to #4, maybe #3.
That is more reasonable. Basically a tie.

If we beat Georgia in Athens I 100% think we should be jumping Texas regardless of what happens with them.

$100k donation required (according to Neyland staff when I took a tour) to get in that section. They have access to a private club underneath those seats. Unless everyone sitting there doesn’t have access to it
I could have those seats and it was 4600 a year per seat. No 100k donation required unless it changed.

Thats why the 12 team playoff is great. It will weed out the phonies. I want the sec title so we can play in the peach bowl.

We’re not arguing over facts, we are arguing over prediction based opinions. Getting mad because I called out the fallacy isn’t helping your argument it’s making you look like a child because someone disagrees with your opinion. Seems like you are mad at the word “fallacy” more than anything else lol
Again. Ridiculous.

Exactly, specifically what is the fallacy in debating likely outcomes based on changing facts? We'll start there and work our way up.

My wedding is next Sunday. The rehearsal is next Saturday evening just before the UGA game (Might misst he first quarter).
My brother is a huge UGA fan.
I'll be celebrating next weekend regardless.
But a win would make it oh so much sweeter!

WGWTFA!
What were you thinking?! Must be a great woman to be able to get a wedding date from a Tennessee fan on a fall Saturday. Congratulations!

These rankings are a self prop though. Penn State has beaten no one so they are ranked high, which allows Ohio State, who has been beaten no one but Penn State to look better because they have a win over Penn State, who has beaten no one, and then Penn State only lost to Ohio State who has beaten no one. Then Indiana will lose to Ohio State and Ohio State will look like they have two fantastic wins over two mediocre teams have beaten no one. Then Indiana will claim their only loss is to a top ranked Ohio State team, who is only up there because of their schedule and two wins against Penn State and Indiana. That is the most aggravating part of it.
Penn State is not good imo. They’re a solid team but would probably be Tier 2 or 3 in our conference. I’d wager both Indiana and Penn State would lose to (Us, UGA, Bama, LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, a healthier FLA team, South Carolina, and Texas). Vandy this season might’ve even given them a run for their money if not outright beat them. They always put Ohio St and Penn St extremely high to start the season to hype them up. Michigan is usually up there as well but their in a transition period.

lol…I’ve been on here a long time. This board has kind of gotten crazy. Some people don’t discuss well or make assumptions. I made one response, and it was simply a request for you to analyze the other schools like us (which does affect our position). Yet somehow it was a misrepresentation? Holy moly.
Yes. It was a misrepresentation, as my argument was that UT's chances of getting left out are greater with:

1. A loss to a bad Arkie team as opposed to a potential loss to a good Bama team (as preseason versions of 2-losses had us believing).

2. A worse SoS than we imagined before the season, since OU. NCSt, etc have proven to be lesser wins than we expected.

I didn't predict that we would be left out, or even that we have a greater danger compared to any other given teams. JUST THAT OUR CHANCES OF GETTING LEFT OUT WITH 2 WINS LOOK MORE LIKELY THAN BEFORE THE SEASON BEGAN.

So, you asking me about analysis of any other team is irrelevant. The comparison was to:

A: Our chances if the former were true VS
B: Our chances as we stand.

The argument: Our chances of missing are greater, as compared to our chances as we imagined them in the past.

The argument is not: Our chances of getting left out are greater than any other given team.

The funny thing is that, as best I can tell, nearly every vocal poster on this subject has agreed that, yah, the argument in question true. That Arky loss hurt our chances compared to a loss to Bama. Yah. The argument is true. Our SoS isn't what we expected it to be.

And yet those same agreeable posters still want to argue against arguments that haven't been made.

I have a genuine fear of them. It's horrifying how big and fast they are but why do they have to fly too?
I was in a nice restaurant in the French Quarter. The waiter was taking the order when a giant flying roach started running up the wall. He slapped it with the menu and just acted like nothing happened.

I guess they're just use to them. Cockroaches climbing the walls at a restaurant in Knoxville would have them shut down and blackballed, 😂
