Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Eh. I think Ole miss has a more experienced QB with more time in their system.
They just use their guys better.

They use their TEs in the middle of the field and not just to the sidelines. WRs running free everywhere. Theres RB pass game, wrinkles every game. Our playbook right now is pretty easy to predict and theres some particular downs you know exactly whats coming like clockwork.

But yes the older QB doesnt hurt

Why would SEC prefer Georgia? So Carson Beck can play like **** on the National Television like he has done all season.

I swear.
Theoretically, because we're a program on probation. Georgia is not. They also currently have a higher profile with two titles in recent years.

And ESPN hates us.

Ole Miss is a very efficient passing offense 5th in SEC in attempts per game, but 1st in passing completions & passing yards.

They also run tempo, they're what everyone thinks Heupel's offense is, but we're far more run first than they are. Of course having 2 games going over 500 passing yards helps to inflate your totals as well.

We've only hit 30 passing attempts in a game twice this year. Kentucky & Chattanooga (3 different QBs played). Dart has thrown 298 of their 331 passing attempts so even in blow outs they kept him in and let him sling it trying to keep him in the Heisman race. His 22 attempts at Georgia were the first time this season he didn't throw for at least 27 and he was out for a series after tweaking his ankle.

I know this sounds silly given the big picture of their ground game but the one thing that has me nervous is their rushing attack if our DL/LB can’t fill the gaps like they’ve not been doing the last couple of weeks.

Hopefully the issue is that we’ve been pursuing containment on the edges to take away the outside runs but the gashes up the middle could bite us.

Ya know what's crazy...I think the last 2 weeks seeing Kentucky AND Mississippi State do what they did might be a blessing in disguise. That's 2 teams with good OCs that just showed us exactly how to exploit a common formation we like to be in.

Both those teams threw for under 200 yards and both threw for under 53% completion % against us though.
