Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Prediction in the first 16 mins or so of the video. Pickell picks Georgia to win but Tennessee to cover. Essentially says it boils down to he believes Kirby has one more motivation game in him this year

Get ready for all the bs deep cut penalties in Athens. Illegal touching, ineligible lineman downfield, overcompetitiveness, etc.
Ole Miss got literally no help from the officials. 0 live ball fouls on UGA. We don't need to make excuses before the game is even played or justify a loss. We're going to win.

Boo Carter and the return game could be the difference in Athens Saturday. I think him getting work against Mississippi State was a very intentional decision.

Put something else on tape for the Dawgs to worry about dealing with. Miss. State punted 7 times and 6 were returned, Boo was given the green light to take any/every one that he could for a reason.

Our front 7 do a better job stopping the run and the secondary could feast on Beck.

4th in SEC in % allowed at 56.6%
3rd in SEC in passing yards allowed at 171.6
2nd in SEC in passing TDs allowed at just 0.7
6th in SEC in INTs with 0.9 a game

People always say I look too far ahead. It is how I process. I likely have beat the drum more than most that we had to win out once we had that bad loss. There were always scenarios that might make that not true...but here we are.
That said, I am at peace. This team can win. More importantly if this team cannot win in Athens then they lilely cannot win a title. I don't care for participation trophies. There is no reason to wring hands given that we control our fate and we've already spilt the sows milk that could have avoided it.

All that said, VN better not go out here and put up some BS FSU level drama if we don't. Instead let the frustration smolder like a fire and seeth like a building storm to help us to bring hell and fury on every opponent we face thereafter.

lotta ball left

when people start making predictions and guaranteeing wins is when it all falls on its face

we've seen this play out so many times. most notably 2007, but it's happened plenty of times since.

Mortgage on the line I think we cover this spread. Beyond that who knows. That is the more likely scenario IMO. UGA playing with an elimination game level of motivation at home sucks, but it is not a hill we cannot climb. Nico being banged up doesn't help either. If the line comes down I will be more confident he plays Saturday.

Might be my BVS, but I also haven't forgotten 2016... beat Florida & Georgia, lose to Bama but just win out and you're in Atlanta. We immediately lose at South Carolina.

Still last game of the season win and we're playing in the Sugar Bowl, lose at Vandy.

I don't think Heupel is Butch Jones...but I also still have some BVS about 2022. Going into South Carolina with a spot in the playoffs on the line and we get ran through. 38 points even with Hooker going down should have been more than enough to win, but giving up 63 points to that sorry team that had just scored 6 against Florida.

Our Georgia win is going to be pretty impressive too. Time to shut everyone up.
No. It will be UGA's 3rd loss and an obvious indicator that UGA is just not good this season. They will have lost to a mediocre UT team. . . not a great Tennessee team that has wins over UF, Bama, and UGA in the same season with probably the best defense in the country. That will be the narrative.

Tennessee has not shown much extra pressure on defense because they haven't really had to and we may not need to against Georgia. Much to the shagrin of many of our fanbase the Vols have been content to sit back, give yards, and hunt ints. We sometimes go to a bear front and show simulated pressure or go cover one or zero when the other team gets in field goal territory when the grass gets scarcer. Every once and awhile you get a glimpse over overwhelming smother but most of the time it is very standard cover two and rush four because we can.
This year's Tennessee defense is not just stout it is dynamic and a weapon.
It’s been interesting to watch how we have adjusted our defense this year to take away each opponent’s strengths. It’s fun having a great defense
