Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Because you’re awarding winning and results on the field. It’s much better than a bunch of people sitting around the table using subjective reasoning and ticket sales to determine the results.

But all schedules aren't created equal. This ain't the NFL. There are huge differences in these conferences in terms of the number of quality teams. You literally had the best teams from the Big 12 and Pac 12 leave their conferences for others. Why should anybody challenge themselves with a tough schedule if only winning matters rather than the context of who you played?

Under your world view the SEC should go to 0 conference games and have their teams play nothing but Group of Five teams. Just winning matters right? That way the entire 12 team playoff field is just undefeated SEC teams that played soft schedules.

Then get them out of FBS and form a 35-45 team league .

Schools better hope they are invited to the “new league.”

That will probably inevitably happen. But there's no reason until then to engage in your delusional proposal. We already see what it looks like when Group of Five teams play SEC teams in September. Why would you want to see that again in December and January? Your suggestion was plain dumb. Fake egalitarian notions rather than using common sense.

The only way to get the bye is to play the SECCG. You play an additional game either way.

True. But the only way you get in position for a home playoff game is to be in your conference championship game unless you're Penn State. The committee has given them such a favorable opportunity despite them having done little to earn a guaranteed home playoff game despite not being in position to play in their conference title game. The only consolidation will be if they have to play a team like Alabama or Ole Miss and they get demolished.

Nobody in the SEC is right now in position to get a home playoff game without playing in the SEC Championship Game.

Who has Texas beaten to be ranked this high? This same Texas team has zero Top 25 wins and was boat raced at home by UGA. What am I missing?

Texas, Penn State, and Indiana have done nothing to deserve their ranking other than having a favorable schedule. This committee is terrible. They're giving teams credit for being lucky with having soft schedules.

At least Indiana is undefeated. Texas and Penn State play nobody and still get top 5 rankings because of where they were in the pre-season. When they play anyone worth a damn. They look like a mid-major.
