Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Disappointing loss. My biggest disappointment is OL play. Second is getting outschemed by Bobo. Not down on Banks because of how far we've come on Defense, but not fired up about OL development. I believe we will be in the playoffs. Either way a 10-2 , possibly 11-2 season is nothing rational human beings should be overly disappointed in. Next two recruiting classes will determine how far this program can go, along with off season development of Matthews and Staley.

Nico will surpass him by a few TDs and few hundred yards unless he doesn’t play next weekend for some weird reason, but right now, Nico’s first year starting is just a smidge and I mean a smidgeeeeee better than JG’s first season starting.

Needs to get better asap for a 8mil QB.

It’s tough as hell to win a night game on the road against a motivated Georgia team. It felt like some brutal officiating kept the momentum on their side in the second half. But I feel better about our offense after this game. We converted several key third downs that we wouldn’t have made a few weeks ago. Maybe we’ll get lucky and get the #11 spot in the playoffs

You might embararass yourself. Why don't you go watch the 3rd and 25? He rushed 4 amd dropped everyone to the freakin' sticks. Its the most egregious defensive play calling I've seen since the 4th and 30 something he gave up to will levis at KY. Any defensive coordinator worth his weight in ho
At some point in a 12 game season, you have games where both sides of the ball have to win the game. The defense has done it all year. The offense has to execute and not lay an egg in a half. That defensive call has worked hundreds of times- literally.

Ya”ll enjoy acting like you can do it. Have fun.

8 of 9 straight scoring drives, not counting the knell down at the end. Amd they weren't short ones. 80-90 yard drives.

Our defense is breaking down, the offense is bland, and the team overall is still too undisciplined. I'm grateful for how far the program has come, but Heupel has to find a way to get this program to take the next step. We're going to need help to get into the playoffs because the committee has zero respect for Tennessee. Getting into the playoffs would be a big perception boost for the program. Hopefully we get a few miracles. It's been a crazy season...so who knows.
Pending anything crazy, I think we still get in. If the argument is 10-2 Ole Miss gets in because they beat UGA, well they also lost to Kentucky and LSU, two teams that are below mediocre at the moment. As for Bama, they lost to us and Vanderbilt, the latter being an embarrassing loss as number 1 in the nation.

Jefferson Pilot used to list all the officials working ball games.

ESPN might.... might tell you the head official's name.

Transparency would go a long way with me.

If the SEC refuses to hire professional refereees then I would like to know who all is officiating the game and what university they graduated from. Maybe the officials can do like the players do on Sunday night football. When the game begins, they can introduce themselves and what school they went to.

For example:

The referee tonight was David Smith. He was quarterback for the university of alabama in the 80s and was team captain in 1988. How is he supposed to be impartial when TN is involved?

We did, but we played one quarter of winning football tonight. Not even close to good enough.
Thought we got conservative on both sides of the ball after we got up 10-0. Our DLine didn't have it tonight. It's Football, it happens. Defense was going to have to be elite for us to win. It wasn't meant to be.

maybe not but the defensive perform we put out there didn’t leave him feeling more confident with his current decision.

Our dline didn't have it because it was 7 on 4. We were never going to consistently get pressure with those numbers.
