Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Absolutely but at the end of the day the second quarter still happened. That’s what truly loss is the game. The defense folded and gave up a 10 point lead
Yeah sigh. You knew they’d give up one drive they shouldn’t have but us being tied at half time felt like a loss when it should have felt like a win.

Georgia Tennessee feels similar to Michigan Ohio State in the Harbaugh era

Tennessee keeps losing the game, and some fans want to blow up the program

We just got to keep coming back, year after year. This thing will turn. I have no doubt about that.
I guess UGA still has more blue chip talent than us. We’ve proven we can score against Bama but not UGA.

November 17, 1951

UT - 46
Ole Miss - 21

During the National Championship season of 1951, the Vols had two of the best players in school history: Hank Lauricella and Doug Adkins. Adkins had one of his greatest games of his career (an interception and “numerous” tackles for loss) vs Ole Miss and Lauricella had a 24 yrd TD to enter the 1000 yrd club. Andy Kozar had 2TDs and Dick Ernsberger had a 53 yrd touchdown run in the 46-21 victory in Oxford

Lauricella on the run.......

I woke up this morning still pissed. There’s no whitewashing this game. We should have and could have won, but our defense didn’t show up and our WRs, yet again, screwed the pooch. Meanwhile, Heupel still can’t win the big games on the road. And even though I feel we have the more impressive resume, I firmly believe the committee puts us just outside the top 12 and moves Ole Miss up to Top 10. So now our only hope rests in Billy Boy down in the Swamp.

The Georgia TE ate Tennessee's secondaries lunch last night. Oscar Delp had 6 receptions all season and ZERO TD's going into last night's game. Pathetic.

Last night 4 receptions for 2TD's. 😳😳

I think our path is losses from two of Notre Dame, A&M, Ole miss, and Bama.

ESPNs odds for their remaining games:

Next week
42% Auburn > A&M
22% Florida > Miss
18% OU > Bama
12% Army > ND

Thanksgiving week
78% Texas > A&M
33% USC > ND
9% Auburn > Bama
5% Miss St > Ole Miss

Jones before the fight: “I want to fight Alex after Miocic”

Dana: “he will fight whoever I tell him, and he will fight Aspinal”

Jones gonna retire now because Dana is a little too big for his pants. Jones gave the belt to Trump. I hope he retires as a big middle finger to Dana.

Jones fighting Aspinal is what's best for business. Aspinal isn't afraid of Jon Jones, why would Jones not want a competition?

Tennessee deserved to lose for how they played last night. However, no one can deny that the officiating crew was borderline criminal.

The SEC has the most inept and corrupt officials in any level of football.
I mean, what do you expect when you have a former Bama quarterback being the head ref? It’s egregious and they could care less! Heupel is beyond ticked off with it. It’s like Sankey said that he will go to bat for us against the NCAA, but we’re gonna pay a penalty behind closed doors, and this is what we are getting.

He’s pissed, and should be.

being pissed after the game doesnt do squat. i want to see him chew the refs butts. i want to see him explode and show some damn emotion instead of chewing gum and looking at the jumbotron. jump up and down, get in their ears, take the freaking penalty. do something. i lm sick of seeing stupid flags and him just taking it.

Going to keep it simple. That game highlighted that we are still as work in progress starting with the coaching staff.

DC Banks does not adapt well in game. He usually plans well until last night. Most of America knew Bobo would use his stable of TE's. Banks did not. They had nothing of note at WR and no running game. Pathetic.

Eck's special teams were special.

Heup needs a real OC. No elite coach calls their own plays on one side of the ball. The time takes away from coaching the whole team and inputting into the other areas. Heup's play calling has been predictable for much too long. Fix this. Joey is not an answer.

WR's - get open and catch the ball.

Nico will be better next season. The potential is there, the execution lacks at times primarily due to inexperience.

There is no excuse for the D-line being manhandled even with the obvious uncalled holding. Eason was the only one beating the man across from him consistently.

I am ready for the right side of the O-line to move on. No improvement year to year.

The team did not believe in themselves and it showed as the game wore on. Did not see that coming.

We are still the 3rd to 5th best team in the SEC. A step forward has been taken. To go farther we need changes at the staff level.

Snap and clear.

I graded them for the ass kicking they gave tonight. They blitzed the safety, the corner, both inside and outside linebacker. They shifted, they were aggressive. Banks rushed 4 down linemen, all night, every play regardless of down and distance or field position. He did this against 6 and 7 blockers. He never adjusted. He looks good when he can get pressure with 4. If he can't he's toast. Always has.

I guess we expected Beck to have a bad game. Worked in the 1st quarter then he settled in and we didn’t adjust.

Yeah he had a bad game. But again this was just one game in a season where his defense has looked dominant.

You said for a championship defensive staff to look to UGA. But they were absolutely lost vs Bama, also just one game this season.
UGA's defense scheme wise is elite compared to the Vols high school level. Tim Banks did nothing. He never adjusted. If you asked GA to outline the perfect defense for them to go against, it would be that one.

The Vols defense looks great if you can pressure the QB with 4/5 guys. When you can't, it's game over. It's the same script we've seen play out since he's been here.

We you call people out when they criticize Banks and they win, you need to accept the beat down when they suck. "Oh, he just had a bad game" doesn't cut it.

I mean the job of the defense is to keep them from scoring, right? 4/5 straight drives isn't doing that. The bend but don't break, broke. 😅
