Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Oh that was last night. I have 0 hope this morning. I’m already looking ahead and seeing the chapters being written. We’ll beat Vandy and go to some stupid bowl game where we’ll roll that opponent. Then we’ll hear all about how next year is the year, but have you seen that schedule? We really gonna think Heupel, who can’t win on the road, manages to run the table in Tuscaloosa, Gainesville, Starkville, and Lexington? Meanwhile Billy Boy will get the Gators back to national prominence next year and Heupel enters 2026 on the hot seat.

I’m so over it.

I don’t think the OL was the biggest issue. A team like ga will get to the qb, but they can get to the qb because Nico rarely had a receiver open to throw to. Our wr group is mid at best and cannot get separation on anyone better than Kent state. And considering that most of them were really good at their last stop, I think it is our wr coach or system. The defense also never disquises what they are doing and honestly look lost presnap every down. They miss Pili alot

Huepel isnt going anywhere, man. Lol.

I do see massive staff changes at EOY. Banks likely gone, and with him Chop. Ellarbee and Pope need togo. Halzle needs demoted, or needs help.

We are still in our Clemson 2009-2014 phase.

Need to keep stacking 10 win seasons to reach the next level as a program.
And to do that?? We should start fahring coaches!

But seriously, the climb back up the mountain sucks ass but I'd rather be there than laying dead at the bottom (RIP 2008-2020)

I don’t call it a validation of legitimacy of making the CFP when we would have to back into because others will have had to lose. We wouldn’t have earned it IMHO, sort of “gifted it” but I’m sure you’ll take a gift.

Again just MHO but this isn’t a CFP team. I know there’s been a lot of parody in CFB this year, but with that said I still think there’s some glaring deficiencies on this team (staff included).

I don’t think we’re a playoff team either. Would be fun to sneak in but they’re keeping us out because the offense is ass.

If we were 10-2 scoring 40 ppg in SEC play we’d be in but the offense is hard to watch and not scoring enough to be exciting.

He’s not going anywhere this year or next, and nor should he. But if he goes 8-4 or 7-5 next year, which is absolutely possible, no way he enters 2026 without being on the hot seat.

And yes, I agree. There needs to be some massive staffing overhaul after this season.

He was throwing dimes because he was throwing against air most of the time. We weren't getting pressure rushing 4 against 7. It was never going to work yet he never changed things up. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Tim Banks will never, ever field a championship level defense.
#’s say it’s a championship level defense but the O is not. Better O helps the D, always been that way

being pissed after the game doesnt do squat. i want to see him chew the refs butts. i want to see him explode and show some damn emotion instead of chewing gum and looking at the jumbotron. jump up and down, get in their ears, take the freaking penalty. do something. i lm sick of seeing stupid flags and him just taking it.
He definitely did all that during the game. He was letting them have it. I saw some cuss words for sure.

Huepel is NOT going to be on the hotseat man.

That doesnt seem like Huepel's style.

Correct and stacking talent. There was still a sizable talent gap between us but that is closing with each year.

What I find quite humorous is the chicklittle attitude from many on this board vs the clear-eyed UGA fans I was watching with. UT and Heupel scare the **** out of them more than any other team and they realize it is only a matter of time before the series flips.

I like Heupel but his ceiling is Mark Richt. I know many here will take that and call it a day over the last 20 years of the program. To each their own. Sadly I am starting to buy his offense is a gimmick. It’s already been figured out by the elite coaches that he has to beat and has shown that he can’t make the necessary in game adjustments. I think this style of offense has a shelf life of 2-3 years at this elite level.

I’m not calling for his firing but he will have to cut Elarbee and Halzle if he wants to take a step forward. If there is an upgrade for Pope then take it. If Banks goes, and I’m assuming he will, he needs to retain Chop if at all possible. I wouldn’t be mad if Banks chose to take CWM with him either.

Josh Heupel could go 8-4 next year and his seat would be cooler than an ocean breeze going into 2026. Staff changed need to happen ASAP. But a Josh Heupel ain’t the change that’s needed.

Hot seat and firing assistants talk is crazy right now. About to be 10-2 and if we are left out of the playoff it’s because of media narratives. We are a really good team in a very difficult SEC.
Maybe in 10 years like UGA did Mark Richt but to even consider doing anything but extending Heupel on his next contract, after he's taken us to where we are now vs where we were in this amount of time is just...idk what. Beyond stupidity.
