Heupel needs to put aside his pride and get help…The final score would indicate that, but watching both games, you never thought Tennessee stood a legitimate chance in the 2nd half. Both were 2 TD margins, but UGA took the gas off in 2022 up 24-6 at HT, and then put the gas on after spotting a 10-pt lead, last night, outscoring Tennessee 31-7.
So, if the definition of competitive is that we didn't get beat by 4 TDs, then I guess you're right, but neither game was ever threatened in the 2nd half.
No, Beck played very well...absolutely. I'm not taking anything away from him. Best he's looked all year in games I've seen. Some of those passes were just dimes though, I was very pissed at the DL and LB play though
If we win our last two games which next week, we better win and then Vandy won't be easy but we should win if we really are one of the top 12 teams, then we will be in. A few teams a head of us now that are not SEC are not better. Our SOS just went up but next week will hurt it. We need to play some better OOC teams even if they are not P4. However, we have an 83% chance per All State predictor IF we win the last two. Go take care of what you can and then let it fall where it may. Other SEC teams have losses against unranked teams and we only have 1 and they need one more win to be bowl eligible. I am a Gator fan next week.Coach Heupel has an issue with winning big games on the road. They seem to coach scared. Everyone knows you have to move Beck off his spot and he just sat back there reading books or running right passed us. Very disappointing. That Arkansas loss has killed our college playoff chances after a week off before it.
Again, you seem fixated on score and time. And also again, if that's your definition of threatened/competitive/close, then I'm not going to argue. The game wasn’t threatened in the second half? We had the ball in Georgia territory driving with under 7 mins in the 4th to tie the game. Hell Georgia td that out then up 24-17 they got bailed out by the refs 3 times on that drive.. to say that game wasn’t competitive I’m not sure what you was watching.
We had a couple of glaring mistakes in the 4th quarter last night. O their 2 TD passes, they took advantage of our lack of speeding coverage at safety and they had easy pickings when they run and threw slants and traps up the middle where our LB should have been. Those to position gave up a lot of yards, especially in the second half. I don't have much too say about our offense in the second half except that penalties stopped a couple of drives.“because UGA busted an assignment”…
Really going to try to downplay Sampson running right through and by their defense by saying we only scored “because UGA busted an assignment”?
Want to say the same about how they only ever scored on us because we busted an assignment?
Give me a break. Regardless how you spin it, it was a close game that UGA could not have felt confident about winning until sometime under 5 mins to go.
After we got the 10-0 lead, the offense completely changed. Really it did after the first scoring drive. It went into that super conservative mode we saw in the 2nd half vs Oklahoma where we just tried to play it safe and lean on our defense.Heupel needs to put aside his pride and get help…
Who cares that we scan score 60 points in one half vs Kent State, when it truly matters we can’t score anything in the 2nd half vs Georgia.
Georgia had trouble tackling in the open field. Why not bubble screens or jet sweep?
No play action off jet sweep.
Yup. I wanted to get mad because will Brooks or Carter or telander was getting caught in coverage.. But really, we all know that's not their strength... And you do have to credit bobo for getting those matchups and their O line for protecting. My biggest coaching criticism is that banks found no answers to that, and we appeared to not really do much different to get pressure on Beck. We moved guys around the line, but there only time I remember actually bringing more than 5 was on the screen play they ran...No, Beck played very well...absolutely. I'm not taking anything away from him. Best he's looked all year in games I've seen.
We got outschemed (Bobo v Banks) and our LBs got exposed for what they are, and have been all year; excellent against the run, but very suspect in coverage. It was the concern all offseason, but finally came home to roost in a game where the QB had all day to throw and they were forced to actually cover a TE or WR for any amount of time.
Did it though? Big dropped passes,a few poor passes, penalties... There were opportunities in the second and 3rd qtr when we had the ball that we shot ourselves in the foot and killed good drives....I don't think the play calling was the problem... We left a lot on the field imo. After we got the 10-0 lead, the offense completely changed. Really it did after the first scoring drive. It went into that super conservative mode we saw in the 2nd half vs Oklahoma where we just tried to play it safe and lean on our defense.
The 2023-24 version of the Tennessee offense is trash in games of consequence. No idea what has changed other that OC and QB.
We are out. I've tried most of the reasonable scenarios here and we can't get in. Most likely Bama versus Texas or TAMU.What are our scenarios to play in the sec championship game?
