Recruiting Football Talk VIII

You might embararass yourself. Why don't you go watch the 3rd and 25? He rushed 4 amd dropped everyone to the freakin' sticks. Its the most egregious defensive play calling I've seen since the 4th and 30 something he gave up to will levis at KY. Any defensive coordinator worth his weight in horse manure would have sent the house to not give him the 45min of pocket time to get the pass off he needed.
That was bad and the biggest thing is we just NEVER adjusted.

Again, you seem fixated on score and time. And also again, if that's your definition of threatened/competitive/close, then I'm not going to argue.

Your noting how UGA was bailed out by the refs (which I already noted) plays into my point. They outplayed us and got the benefit of every flag. At no point did I have confidence that we would threaten their lead. They had the momentum, the homefield advantage, and the advantage of every call made (or not made) going their way. We got outscored 31-7 to close the game.

So, yes, the score suggests that we were "in it", but I never believed that we had much of a chance after we had to punt on our first possession of the 2nd half. Everything went UGA's way from that point.
If your only down a touchdown in the 4th and have the ball driving you’re in the game whether” you feel” it was competitive or not. One play could’ve changed the whole game. And to stay in the game with a chance going into the final minutes in Athens going against the refs , the crowd noise, and a Kirby smart team, that’s all you can ask for. Again saying it was not competitive is a stretch. A game that’s 38-0 is not competitive . Big difference

At some point in a 12 game season, you have games where both sides of the ball have to win the game. The defense has done it all year. The offense has to execute and not lay an egg in a half. That defensive call has worked hundreds of times- literally.

Ya”ll enjoy acting like you can do it. Have fun.
You drop near the sticks on third and long but not to them UNLESS it was 4th down. Malpractice to do it on second down. Don't defend it and show a lack of knowledge. It turned a 2 and 24 to a 3 and 9 even without the penalty.

They were both incomplete passes.
The problem is that the rules are subjective, purposefully. I saw no replay that showed bobbling on either play (both receivers had the ball) but the time of possession was miniscule. 10-15 years ago, both might have been fumbles. Last night, neither was.

But irrespective of how we played, the obvious slant toward GA on almost every call is going to cause calls like those to be suspect.

All this talk about a drop off next season is stupid. We won 9 games last season despite noticeable regression from the offense. With the way Heupel has recruited and the guys they land in the portal, this program should be a stable 9+ win program every year. The discussion needs to focus on how they take the next step forward and quit worrying that we'll go 7-5. Hell, it's not a lock that we don't make the playoffs and finish strong this season. Last night sucked because it was a winnable game and we didn't get it done against the top program in the country...not because we found out we're miles behind after a blowout. Cross your fingers that we make the playoffs and get another shot at UGA.
Drop off is due to losing a good chunk of our D-Line which is the only reason this team is good on defense.

In addition, good ole Glen hasn’t developed or recruited an SEC OL that can play next year and we are losing everyone except for Heard.

By rule taking two steps and securing the ball by their TE should have been considered a fumble after the hit. Nothing in the rulebook suggests otherwise, but im not going to argue with low football IQ ppl on it. We still got outplayed yesterday so it wasn’t the biggest reason
He never secured it lol. Securing is having POSSESSION of the ball long enough to make a football move. He lost it while he was trying to secure it. Example of a football move are having possession long enough to pitch the ball, advance it and warding off a defender. Low IQ

At this point I think of the 2 loss teams resume wise Georgia is in the best spot 2 road losses to 2 top 10 teams.

SEC likely puts Ole Miss in Atlanta to play Texas for SEC. Why? Because Bama & Georgia with 2 losses are in playoffs, Vols should be but they’ll take care of those 2 first.

Ole Miss beats Texas they’re in, Texas too. And if Ole Miss loses they are out, but SEC won’t care because it’s Ole Miss.

I dont think the SEC runner up will be left out......no matter who it is. I do think that Ole Miss has to go to Florida next week and Florida is playing very well.
