Recruiting Football Talk VIII

All this talk about a drop off next season is stupid. We won 9 games last season despite noticeable regression from the offense. With the way Heupel has recruited and the guys they land in the portal, this program should be a stable 9+ win program every year. The discussion needs to focus on how they take the next step forward and quit worrying that we'll go 7-5. Hell, it's not a lock that we don't make the playoffs and finish strong this season. Last night sucked because it was a winnable game and we didn't get it done against the top program in the country...not because we found out we're miles behind after a blowout. Cross your fingers that we make the playoffs and get another shot at UGA.
Yup our big time talent is just coming on board.

We'll go from 17th in overall talent to top 10 next year and moving forward. Our incoming classes are greatly closing the talent gap by every metric. And yet here we have been with sub-top 15 talent winning 11 games, 9 games, now 10+ again...

It's silly how well we've done to this point with far less talent than the Bamas, UGAs of the world. Now we get to see it on a (somewhat) more even playing field moving forward.

Offense will be studly next year and the defense has gotten better every...single...year since Heupel arrived. That's just a straight fact.

Enjoy, folks. I mean, champions.

I will say this, DSamp showed he’s elite lastnight. UGA had problems with him, and PLew just inserted himself in the rotation permanently going forward.

Look at this production, one game that he didn’t crack 100 yards and he ran for 92. Kid isn’t getting talked about enough nationally, some NFL team is going to get a Kamara level steal in the 3rd round. If Sean Payton is at proday it will likely be Denver.

Johnny Majors first 5-8 years it was literally a revolving door😂
Johnny was very hard on his coaches. Many couldn't handle it and were leaving on their own. Not being critical of him. Him being hard on player's and coaches were part of what made him successful. Tony Dorsett told me Coach Majors was his man and he loved him.

I ain’t gonna say anymore about it after this because we win, but man let the kids play it out.

If they continue to look like ****, then yes by all means, but 1-2 minutes then yanking a kid doesn’t do a damn thing for em.

I feel like some of his players play tense because they know if they make one mistake it’s right back to the bench.

That’s life, they want to play in the NBA someday the same will happen.

OH, I completely agree. It's one of the reasons I don't like him.

I don't think the committee knows what it is doing. While I agree with your statement, the committee chair said last week the reason BYU and Indiana moved ahead of Tennessee is because they had quality wins over Utah (4-5) and Michigan (5-5). By that definition Tennessee has quality wins over Florida, Oklahoma, and NC State.
That's not what was said. It was "big wins on their schedule". Which is true. They were hurdle games. Similar to if we had just beaten UF and the team across from us, marginally the same ranking as us, beat a 2-7 team...

The margin was already razor thin, so any halfway good wins were going to bump them up.

To OP's point, we do have the worst resume of all the 2-loss SEC teams. But we're in, so folks should relax regardless. Just dial in for Vandy, because that's a tough one.

There is one position that had me very worried for next year. It’s one that not too many mention often. Center. This offense goes as Coop goes. Will we have a competent replacement for him?

I literally quoted from from the rule book… also false equivalency, catch and going out of bounds isn’t the same as a catch and getting rocked
I don't care what you quoted from. Quoting a rule doesn't make the rule, or your position, correct. The way the rules are written is inconsistent and full of subjectivity.

And there should be no false equivalency. A catch is either a catch or not, no matter where it occurs. That there are different definitions of a catch depending on where you are on the field, is evidence of the flaw in the rule.
