I really believe that the powers that be in tv and vegas are angling for a match up between Tennessee and Neuter Lame in Neyland. It has they tried and true storyline of Golden Domers v the Mobile Homers and the legend of Neyland at night. It would make for good tv and provide plenty of material for good copy in the lead up.the final week and conference championship week of 2007 showed us all that anything can happen
Just have to play it out at this point and keep our eyes on a few teams
The teams in front of us will feel the pressure, or feel complacent
We got humbled last night, but humility is always at work, and always looking for people that need reminding
I agree but I think it also shows the lack of confidence they have in our safety play in man to manblows my mind that we hardly blitzed Saturday, knowing that Beck is bad under pressure. Borderline coaching malpractice imo. It seems like every year there is 1-2 games that makes us go “wtf was that?” ig that uga and arky were those games this year, like mizzou and uf last year and uscjr in ‘22
I wouldn’t say lack of confidence moreso Georgia prevented us from putting rush packages in when they played hurry up, I’ve said from the beginning the rotation is great on Dline but if you get too cute with it and the opposing offense plays hurry up you are stuck with your run defense out there on obvious pass look.I agree but I think it also shows the lack of confidence they have in our safety play in man to man
we've been that team that started goofy and ended dangerousI didn't realize how bad the teams we've played have become (except for Bama) I will say it's hard to play in the SEC. Oklahoma is beat up but Florida is getting better all the time. Need the teams we've played to get bowl eligible.
Then again, has our schedule really been easy? We played Bama and Georgia. The beginning of the year, our schedule looked pretty tough -- I think that is just the grind of SEC and cream rises to the top. We thought Mizzou had the pie schedule at the beginning, but look at them now. This is not an easy bunch of games for any of us.
There is a lot of blame to go around, Banks got schooled but not going to harp on a guy for 1 bad game plan so far this year when he has been elite in all the others. We still have a top 10 defense in the country and that’s a far cry from the last two yearsYeah...he does. He had me fooled early this year but he's still the same bum we've complained about for 3+ seasons.
Does anybody know when or if Spillman will be available at all this year, how bad is his injury? Would be nice to have him out there at LBFeel like as a team we're sooooo close to being a great team that doesn't have to play flawless to win against lesser teams (like Arkansas).
On defense I think it's still an inexperience thing, especially in the back 7...Pili goes down and we got real thin real fast and real young. Didn't help that arguably our most talented LB (Spillman) hasn't seen the field think it's been health related.
Carter, Telander, Smith all 2nd year guys and really not a ton of games until this season. Perry is a 3rd year guy, but also pretty inexperienced.
Secondary has the talent, clearly but you can still see mental errors because of the inexperience back there.
Offense is frustrating, have experience everywhere but QB...have talent (OL a bit behind though if we're honest) but can't seem to clear the last hurdle to really just get back to 2022 level efficiency and maybe that won't happen again...that team had a lot of NFL talent on it at all levels.
Just need to see the team handle business against UTEP and Vandy. That's all you can control.
No excuse for Banks not to switch up his scheme and bring blitzes when he saw the front four were getting zero pressure. Pressuring Beck was easily the biggest defensive key to the game. He has consistently crumbled when pressured. No excuse for the front 4 not to win one on ones in my mind, this was the worst game they have played all year
