Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Not fair towards Bru!…he’s either double up or Nico lever looks his way.I’m not even factoring in badly thrown passes…popular targets this season have been to squirrel or Thornton..in my opinion I don’t know what the stats say…where’s my stat guy at?…. @MoCo_Vol 🤔

I don’t have targets but Squirrel (349 yards for 11.3 ypc) and Bru (395 yards for 12.7 ypc) lead the team in receptions at 31 each.

Thornton leads team in yards (505 yards for 25.3 ypc)

Um, because he died at 34.

Both are good, but I prefer Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash.... Older country is better IMO.
Waylon Jennings > Willie Nelson > Merle Haggard > Glen Campbell > Johnny Cash > Kris Kristofferson

and so on, and so forth.

However, bluegrass draws a line in the sand and says 'Kiss my Blue Ass.'

Before he lost his singing voice, imo Tony Rice had one of best high lonesome voices. Also my favorite guitar picker.

Obviously there are better musicians, and vocalists. Tim O Brien, etc. But Tony Rice is just old school.

Mozart interesting, figured you to be more of a Liberace type. Musically speaking.
I know you got your music education from the drag queen revue (no judgement), but some of us have deeper musical tastes. I like all kinds of music. I am not a music bigot.

I'll see if I can dig something up... but usually targets are more NFL stats than college.

I will say though that of the WRs I think White likely leads in total targets.

Edit: Not sure how accurate, but according to fantrax.com

Bru has 50 targets and 31 receptions on the season.
Squirrel has 48 targets and 31 receptions on the season.
Brazzell has 48 targets and 23 receptions on the season.
Thornton has 26 targets and 20 receptions on the season.
Kitselman has 22 targets and 17 receptions on the season.

So what this really highlights is Nico's deep ball being off, since Brazzell and Squirrel are typically getting the bulk of those targets.

NC State is 5-5 currently, ranked 24th when we played and a Neutral site game
OU is 5-5 currently, ranked 15th when we played and a true road game
Florida is 5-5 currently, unranked when we faced (every team they've lost to is currently a top 15 team)
Bama is 8-2 currently, ranked 7th when we faced them and still there now

Vandy is currently 6-4, they play at LSU this weekend and then host us.

Ole Miss won at South Carolina, currently they're 7-3. So based on record it's a better 2nd win than any we've got...but losing to Kentucky at home is a far worse loss than us losing at Arkansas.

South Carolina should beat Wofford and finish with at least 8 wins, they close the season at Clemson.

But if the Gators beat Ole Miss Saturday it won't matter.
- Could help if NC State wins out and go to 7-5 (at GT, at UNC)
- OU host Bama this weekend then go to LSU. If OU beats Bama imo we are in (assuming we win out). If they beat both we are definitely in. If they beat LSU that certainly helps us.
- if Florida beats Ole Miss we are in.
- Vandy beating LSU helps us. Continues to lessen the quality of win for Bama (especially if OU also beats them). Vandy would be 8-3 when we played them and would be our 2nd best win if we beat them on the road. Especially considering Bama couldn't beat them in Nashville and Texas held on for the 3pt win. We need style points in that one.
- If LSU loses out they'll drop to 6-6. Vandy would be 8-4.

If we'd have a 3-way tie at 10-2 between UGA, Bama, and Tennessee each would have road losses to the other in that dance.

So we look at common opponents and 2nd best win.

Bama v TN
- Bama lost at Vandy; Vols win at Vandy
- Bama and Vols win at OU
- Bama 2nd best win is either on road vs LSU (between 6-6 and 8-4), at home against South Carolina (between 7-5 and 9-3), or home against Mizzou (7-5 to 9-3 - would love Miss State or Arkansas to beat them)
- Vols 2nd best win at Vandy (between 7-5 and 8-4).
- Worst loss is Vols at Arkansas (between 6-6 and 7-5) but Vandy could lose out and give Bama a loss to a 7-5 team too.
So, we'd have the edge on common opponents and depending on how things play out could have a tie or edge on 2nd best win.

Vols v UGA
- Both beat UK, MSST, UF.
- UGA best win is at Texas.
UGA has the edge over us.

Bama v UGA
- Both beat Auburn.
- Texas is the better win.

So I'd think UGA should be top of that group of 3, followed by Vols, then Bama.

I have 0 faith the powers-that-be would do this though.

The entire passing game has been underwhelming. And that is why I said earlier I hope we never have to rely on another freshman QB.

Also, I’m severely disappointed in our lack of a rotation considering how beat up Thornton and Squirrel have been.

How bad are Kaleb Webb and Nathan Leacock?
Don’t matter if you can’t block and give up 5 sacks

Point shaving? What the hell are you talking about? It sounds like you're throwing around a term without having a clue what it means.
I know exactly what it means. Technically I guess you could call it point augmenting for Georgia and shaving for Tennessee. Basically ensuring that Georgia won and covered. The sharps dropped huge money on Georgia at the end.
