Recruiting Football Talk VIII

It really seems like our offense is missing receivers winning 50/50 throws. Is that because our receivers aren't capable or because Nico isn't taking the risk? Maybe they don't make those plays in practice, so Nico doesn't chance it in games...or maybe Nico is trying too hard to avoid interceptions? Bru seems to be a guy that can make a contested catch and Brazzell was the guy who could high point the ball at his last school. I'm just wondering if we're not taking enough shots once we cross the 50 yard line. Also, I like what Kitzelman and Staes have brought to the offense, but Ethan Davis is the most athletic TE...maybe use him to attack the middle of the field.
Bru is averaging under 40 yards receiving per game with ZERO TD's through 10 games. He's a great blocker and supposedly a great guy, but he just isn't a difference maker as a receiver.

It is not an opinion. It's a verifiable fact.
I really like Keith Whitley but he doesn't have the same catalog as George Strait. As far as their voice and being genuine about the songs they sing, Whitley is the clear cut winner but GS has decades of making top 10 country songs I love. If country music has a Mount Rushmore, George Strait is on it.

I do wonder how many more hits Keith Whitley had in him. He was awesome.

With off coverage being played so much, Bru and the tight ends should be feasting and making the dbs feel the pain. Just have to stay out of negative plays

I really like Bru McCoy but coming back this season hasn't helped is draft stock at all.

Hopefully he does well at NFL Combine.

might be a bad take but I don’t like our WR room at all.

I thought having Thornton and Brazzle would unlock some things this year.

Squirrel is disappointing. Bru is disappointing.

The rotations are bad. The second line is bad. The third line even worse - haven’t seen much of them.

Just really disappointing. I thought they would be a strength. Definitely a weakness IMO.

Regarding the defense:
Great point to those who have noted it. Seems the hurry up UGA ran impacted our DL a lot. With that said, UGA scored 31. In modern college football, that’s not a lot. You can beat a team that scores 31 on you if…..

Regarding the offense:
It is what it is at this point. Good run-blocking OL that is decent in pass protection. Young QB who is gauging confidence and making good decisions.

BUT… the WR corp is pedestrian. Not a dependable play maker in the bunch. No one that scares defenses. It was Nico for a few weeks holding the offense back as he learned. Now it’s clear, the WR room is the lid on the offense.

Been about like the Oline. Inconsistent at best not good at worst.

Squirrel with one arm/shoulder may be our best.

Been most disappointed in Bru and Brazzel. Thought they would be bigger in their roles.

Um, because he died at 34.

Both are good, but I prefer Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash.... Older country is better IMO.

Bingo. We didn’t have any breaks. This loss sucked more due to the abc coverage too.

Not that it matters but after watching several people break down film it seems that Nico is flushed out opposite of where he needs to be.

We see receivers open deep at times and Nico is always being forced to the opposite side of the field.
Noticed this as well. Anyone with more technical knowledge I’d love the insight. Half of the sacks we took could have been big plays or qb runs for 1st downs if Nico had moved the opposite direction of the way he did.
