Half or so of the BCS was based on the AP and coaches' poll, which is human but enough humans to flush out most of the biases. BCS was a perfect blend of high-sample-size humans and algorithms.

Was talking about this with a Bama friend before the Uga game. He asked if I was gonna be mad if we lost and I said no bcuz we already have done better than I thought we’d do and was expecting a loss. Like obviously expectations rise as you’re doing better and it’s still disappointing to lose. But all things consider it’s far from a bad year (just don’t lose to Vandy)

Yeah, it’s just a bad take.

We are one of the 10 biggest brands in all of CFB, and have strong representation across the country. If the end all be all decider is media attention, we will be in.

Some late Wednesday Devo research:

Not only does Indiana not have a ranked win, but:

Them + their current 10 opponents COMBINED have 1, single ranked win altogether. That was Nebraska over Colorado way back in week 2.

For reference, ourselves + our opponents have 6, not including wins over us, nor LSU who just dropped out after their recent loss (otherwise would be 8 including LSU - 10 including us).

Power ratings are what the committee will say they're after..."the best teams" but their rules keep them from truly doing so.

Nor do any of those humans actually have the guts to do it, so they fall back on "deserving".

Vegas placing the playoff spots would shame folks. And upset a ton too. The UGA, Bamas of the world would be in great spots though.

So since the committee said bama's win over Mercer was a good win and showed how they were playing, i guess we should obliterate UTEP and that will be a good win and show the committee how well we are playing... Mercer bumped bama three spots... so we beat UTEP and we get bumped up 3 spots...
I mean, if we are doing the committee math, they have no argument not to bump us up 3 spots right? LMAO... this playoff is so pathetically fixed.

What is their fpi ranking compared to the teams we've played.

Nobody has said they're a quality win.

They are simply one of their 2 best wins. Everyone has 2 "best wins" that are considered their "Key Wins" tautologically speaking. That just means their schedule sucks...not that our 2nd best win is really any better to this point, but our best win is waaay better.
