Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Just remember guys...the committee counts Arkansas as a quality win for Texas but a bad loss for us. Also...they completely ignore the fact that Ole Miss lost to 2 unranked teams including UK whom is 1-6 in the league.
Ole Miss is a product of recency bias with their GA win.

What is their fpi ranking compared to the teams we've played.
They're ranked 11th in fpi. Bama 2nd and UGA 5th.

Would be 3rd toughest, compared to our schedule. UF and OU are 26th, 27th nationally, Arky 32nd.

Their toughest game so far is Michigan at 43rd, a whopping 3 spots ahead of UK. Michigan would be our 6th toughest matchup so far...7th after Vandy...

Wouldn't make it that narrow. It was a dominant win. They also walloped Arky on the road by 32 the week before that. Then USCjr on the road a few weeks earlier by 24!

Their wins have been pretty dominant, a few of them on the road. And both losses by a combined 6 pts. Easy to argue they're just a couple plays from an undefeated season, that helps too.

+28 ppg and +3.2 YPP says they are easily playoff material, even top-half of that.

Pulling for UF bigly this weekend. Would help a lot, because I don't see our resume surpassing theirs.

Vegas set the O/U at 8.5 back in March and 9 in July. If we end up at 10-2 we overperformed, regardless of whether we make the playoffs or not. And yet, many will still be unhappy.

I remain true to my Dark Years vow that I will never again allow 8 or 9 win seasons to steal my joy, and certainly not 10. In the end, it's a game, and a vanishingly small percentage of us are affected by it in tangible ways. In a world where tomorrow may be challenged by lunatics with nukes, just enjoy a few more weekends of college ball, and don't let your joy be stolen *IF* the Vols are left out of the playoffs.
Before the season I thought 9 wins needed to be the floor.
With my thoughts on teams weve played, I thought we had 3 tough games @OU, Bama, @UGA...... I thought we needed at least one of them to consider it a great year.
However, with how this season has played out, and the fact that our schedule is worse than I thought it was, I cant help but see a year of miss opportunity. One loss to a bad Arky team, and we are out of the playoffs.
Deboer will get Bama to where he wants them in the next couple years
This is the worst UGA team we will probably see in a long time
Florida appears to have a stud QB

Good grief Indiana has the softest schedule

They only play 1 (osu) of the top 8 b10 teams (7 if you exclude themselves)...
They play 8 of the bottom 10 b10 teams...

Their 3 OOC games...

FIU -- #112
Charlotte -- #120
Western Illinois (FCS)

Judging off them barely being able to beat Michigan, they would be 5-5 with our schedule w/ losses to Bama, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, & Arkansas

just thought of something… can’t will brooks and GasPipe come back next year? They both were freshmen in ‘20, so the 2020 year didnt count for eligibility, then rs in 21, ‘22 rs sophomore, ‘23 rs jr, this year rs senior, and then covid year next year, am I wrong or missing something?

And their D line which is really good.

Texas is honestly the worst SEC team in the playoffs, but at 11-1 can you really leave them out?

There are 5 SEC teams that should be in.

Knoxville would riot.

The article fails to mention that 106th on SoS. We are not talking about Miami and their weak 50ish schedule or even Texas who the entire conference has given hell for being in the low 30s. If you have a weak basketball schedule the tourney leaves you out. Football should do the same. Indiana and anyone else who wants in needs to schedule themselves in by playing good competition and yes that includes the other team form Indiana in the playoffs with an embarrassing mid 80s schedule. Those are schedules that go far beyond conference draw. ADs went out of their way to schedule easy wins.

Sorry, but the Lakers were not one of the original 11 members. They are, by definition, an expansion team. They were like a Detroit rec team in 1946 but history shows their official start was 1947 in Minneapolis. View attachment 699182

even the Warriors have been around longer
Lol...the NBA's 'original 11' is such an arbitrary take

The NBA picked the BAA's history instead of the NBL (or both) despite the NBA forming as a result of the merger of NBL-BAA.

NBL started in 1935 (Midwest Basketball Conference - renamed NBL in '37) by basketball diehards
BAA started in 1946 by owners of arenas in big cities.

The Lakers (Kings & Pistons also) moved from NBL to BAA in '48, a year before the merger in '49.

3 teams remain from the BAA (Celtics, Warriors, Knicks)
5 teams remain from the NBL (Lakers, Pistons, Kings, Hawks, 76ers)

Are any of those teams really 'expansion teams'....that didn't start until the first wave in the 60s, late 80s, mid 90s,

Ultimate goal post move. That Arkansas team is a few plays from being tied with 2 losses. Ole Miss & LSU are the only games where they really got throttled. Should have beaten OK State & A&M and also were in the Texas game until the end.
