Not over Wright and Sampson. You can argue over Small, but even he's in an NFL camp. Seldon is going to be a great RB, but that doesn't mean he was automatically ready as a freshman, or that he should have played over Sampson and 2 RBs in NFL camps.
Yeah people forget Seldon was mostly a WR in high school. He's had a learning curve.

Where is everyone seeing that this Pilot logo/payment is going toward NIL?

I would be amazed if a University could get away with signing a sponsorship deal for their field, and then that university paying players with the $$$.

What I've seen leads me to believe this sponsorship is money for the University, and it'll keep from renaming the stadium. But in essence, it's little different (income-wise) than Kentucky naming their field to go Krogering.
It all ends up in the same pot eventually.

Easy to do when your freshman are all 5* guys lol

Heupel's only had a single 5* freshman so far and he got to play the bowl game and otherwise sat behind a very veteran player. We'll see how much PT Ross gets this season, then Sanders Jr, then Faizon. Hopefully a couple more 5* studs join the boat by then too.
Saban also played walk on DBs so everyone should stop freaking out about Will Brooks.

Looks like they've announced that Ryan is going in for Tommy John surgery so that wipes him out for next year too.

To your point, I thought it was interesting on Saturday after he got pulled, in an interview he said, "The pitch clock definitely makes you speed up a lot. Which, back in the day you didn’t have to speed up as much when you threw. Throwing back-to-back pitches within 15 seconds, it starts to take a toll."

That was before he got evaluated by the doctors.

I'm also curious how much the Dodgers' issues track with the league in general. Probably too small a sample set to parse out.
I heard on that when MLB made pitchers quit using the sticky stuff to grip the baseball, they have to grip harder to control and puts more strain on the arm.

It’s a company paying an expense. The Haslam’s retained some control but don’t own it anymore.

But even if it were a tax write-off, the university benefits. Just like charities.
Right.

"Tax write-off" seems misunderstood sometimes. As if people are getting away with some grand moneymaking scheme or something

People should be congratulating him on getting himself in the conversation for playing time. He's being talked about because he's become as good or better than SEC quality players, not because we're bad and have no one better.

The Settlement requires $21 mil payments towards the players…this cancels out that debt, freeing up funds elsewhere. Win/BIG win.
I see what you're saying, this may not go directly towards NIL, but offsets the settlement payments.

Though iirc it isn't required, it's all optional. Just can't go over that $ figure. If I understood it correctly back then. Not that I suspect we won't match others in this area.

Yeah, my gut feeling is that while there are effects due to the clock, the grip, etc., the underlying culprit is just the current expectation placed on pitchers.

With all the tech we now have in maximizing performance, combined with the way pitchers are used now, we're demanding maximum effort on every pitch— speed and/or spin. While we have the knowledge and the ability to track/monitor/analyze that lets us develop the most effective pitches, most people don't have the arm structure to deliver those pitches repeatedly for the long term.

Players and the union can squawk about the clock and the grip but I don't think changing those factors will make a big difference. I don't know, maybe if they flatten the seams a little to reduce the ability to even create those ungodly sweeps and such, pitchers will have to focus more on command and mix to find success.

Seems like there is some great development going on with the Secondary players.
