Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I'm at the Atlanta airport, I'm ready to fight everybody 🤣

This is partly what made Saban so great. He played the best player, even if he was only a freshman.

I know Huep likes his vets, but you gotta be careful with that strategy or it will come back to bit you on the recruiting trail
Easy to do when your freshman are all 5* guys lol

Heupel's only had a single 5* freshman so far and he got to play the bowl game and otherwise sat behind a very veteran player. We'll see how much PT Ross gets this season, then Sanders Jr, then Faizon. Hopefully a couple more 5* studs join the boat by then too.

Shout out to Randy Boyd as well, feel like he makes a lot of these power plays with his connections. From top to bottom it’s a dream come true how we’re being ran.
THIS!!!

Boyd and Plowman have been HUGE to UT, and their visions align with DW’s who has hired coaches that share the same vision as he does, and the ones already here share the same vision as well

Yup, the Big Three are really good at what they do. Randy Boyd even does it with no salary.

He should’ve seen more carries last year, especially in the later half of the season
Not over Wright and Sampson. You can argue over Small, but even he's in an NFL camp. Seldon is going to be a great RB, but that doesn't mean he was automatically ready as a freshman, or that he should have played over Sampson and 2 RBs in NFL camps.

Where is everyone seeing that this Pilot logo/payment is going toward NIL?

I would be amazed if a University could get away with signing a sponsorship deal for their field, and then that university paying players with the $$$.

What I've seen leads me to believe this sponsorship is money for the University, and it'll keep from renaming the stadium. But in essence, it's little different (income-wise) than Kentucky naming their field to go Krogering.

Renovations and the future "Fan Experience"

It makes a big difference to have a player at Boyd’s level in those conversations because he’s not going to be intimidated by someone else’s money…he’s got his own and can walk away at any point he wants.

The Settlement requires $21 mil payments towards the players…this cancels out that debt, freeing up funds elsewhere. Win/BIG win.

With the Dodgers officially losing River Ryan to a UCL injury…. Do you all think the pitch clock is causing this increase in injuries to pitchers? The players union seems to feel that way.
Looks like they've announced that Ryan is going in for Tommy John surgery so that wipes him out for next year too.

To your point, I thought it was interesting on Saturday after he got pulled, in an interview he said, "The pitch clock definitely makes you speed up a lot. Which, back in the day you didn’t have to speed up as much when you threw. Throwing back-to-back pitches within 15 seconds, it starts to take a toll."

That was before he got evaluated by the doctors.

I'm also curious how much the Dodgers' issues track with the league in general. Probably too small a sample set to parse out.
