Recruiting Football Talk VIII

So yes, revenue will be shared with players.

Danny White...we've been blessed boys and girls.

While many stadiums will be renamed and changed for deals like this, we get millions a year, for the next 20 years, for a logo that doesn't even take up 10 yards.

Florida 2023 Etienne rushed for more yards than Ertz threw for. That was a front 7 loss.
Mizzou 2023 Schrader and Cook rushed for 255 yards and 2 TDs (vs 275 yards and 1 TD/1 INT through the air)
Florida 2021 UF had 283 rushing yards at 7.1 ypc
Ole Miss 2021 OM had 279 rushing yards

In all of those games we lost because the front 7 didn't do their job.
This was going to be my response, too. Thanks for looking it up. In most of our losses last year, our front seven was terrible. All units have to play well together. It wasn't the secondary.

Glad they are keeping the names, obviously.

But the framing is funny to me. "preserved by Pilot". Like Russian paratroopers were gonna descend on Neyland and change the name or something.

Uh, guys... Simply not taking the money and leaving it alone was always an option. Lol. But whatever. Glad they aren't messing with the name.

Pilot was all over stuff relating to the Vols for years anyway. Remember the magazines from Pilot, the canopy tents with Pilot logos, orange pilot mugs, etc. Granted, most of this stuff was sold in Pilots. . . but they have always been present in relation to the Vols for years.

Twitter is running with a 20-22 million a year number; however, I think it mistakingly comes from the On3 article talking about the deal and the recent house settlement.

Hubbs on the deal:
I have done a few naming deals in my career and an asset like Neyland is likely in the low double digit millions per year.

My guest would be the deal is 20 years at 10M a year - so 200M total.

  • SoFi Stadium
The Rams' new stadium has a 20-year, $625 million deal with SoFi, which works out to $31.25 million per year.
  • Levi's Stadium
The San Francisco 49ers' stadium has a deal with Levi's that's worth $17 million annually, plus a team sponsorship. In 2024, the 49ers extended the deal through 2043, which is a 55% increase over the original 20-year, $220 million deal.
  • MetLife Stadium
The New York Giants and New York Jets' stadium has a deal with MetLife that's worth $17 million per year.
  • Nissan Stadium
The Tennessee Titans' stadium has a 20-year deal with Nissan that's worth between $100 million and $130 million, which began in 2015.

Did anyone else listen to the song, Dumas Walker, for years and think the lyrics were:

"Let's all gooooooo..... Down to do Mrs. Walker."

No. Just me? Huh.
No but I always loved that Steve Miller song... Goes 'big ol Jed and Elijah, don't carry me to far away', you know the one in mean.😎

This has been coming for a while now and instead of some goober, poverty **** like Kroger Field at Kentucky or literally no one caring enough about their program or stadium to sponsor it like at South Carolina, we get millions of dollars each year, we keep the names, and all we had to do was put two small "Pilot" logos at the 25 yard lines?

There is no downside to this, it's literally just all upside and once again, our AD and higher ups hit a home run. Feels pretty damn good to have the best AD and in the country.

Texas fans will be just like Vol fans….. They will be saying that the 5th string walk-on RB that ran for 125ydd in the spring game…. should have been starting anyways. 😂
Please don’t ever make this comparison again. It’s demeaning to the Tennessee coaches, team and fans. ☹️

I expect better from a RF certified Moran. 😁

Every other major school is going to go in this direction. Lube U already has with Kroger and I think others have as well. We did with Food City Center (aka TBA), but I think DW knows enough about UT sports that Neyland and SW Field re-naming would have sparked riots. They got the best of both worlds and made the fans happy.
