Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Why A&M beat Texas?

I don't see a likely benefit. More likely 3 SEC teams end up ahead of us and we get knocked down a spot...less likely to host.
I’m behind so forgive me if this has already been addressed. A&M beating Texas gives them their second SEC lost and (may?) drop them behind us. It would be A&M vs UGA in SECCG and UGA smokes A&M thus knocking them out of CFP. At 9-4 I don’t see how they would be considered.
Uga gets the SECC bye and Tennessee could end up as the number 2 ranked SEC. Mostly I don’t want to listen to tu fans Braggin about how they made SECCG their first year in the SEC.

You can't punish teams for having to play an extra game because they had a better regilar season than someone else.
if we're talking about teams with equal resumes, results etc....i agree.

but not all runner ups are created equal, and not all conferences are created equal. if BSU loses their title game, i'm not sure they get in, cause they lose the automatic qualifier, and especially if Tulane wins out.....if BSU and Tulane both win out....you could see the Big 12 get left out depending how that conf shakes out.

but for example, in the SEC, if aTm is the runner up, with 4 losses....the reward was the opportunity to go win the conf. losing that game, for that team, doesn't mean you should be competing for a national title.

if it's TX and UGA...different story....the loser gets in.....different circumstance there.

I hope it plays out this way, so we can host. And hopefully play the 3 or 4 seed in the semifinals.

I can't stand anything in my coffee. I love the taste of coffee by itself.

That is difficult to believe lol. I do believe you, I just thought people that drink their coffee black just tolerated it like I was. I didn't think anyone was actually enjoying it lol. I drink it almost every day still but only for the effect. I tried a lot of different brewing methods as well thinking it would make a difference. French press, aeropress, pour over, burr grinder, electric kettle, different water/coffee ratios, different filters, etc. Never made a cup that would make me say "this is not bad". Now I just generally make a large pot of cold brew every week.

It's a massive advantage to NOT make the CC game if you punish the teams playing.
Getting a week off and getting the revenue from another home game.
I would almost guarantee most coached would prefer the 5 seed.
You don’t get an extra week. The first round will happen roughly 20 days from Saturday, top 4 seeds don’t play until new years (25ish days from conference champ week)

Texas hasn’t had a better regular season than Uga

Not a fun of black coffee, but I love the taste of a good stout, as well as a good reposado. Acquired tastes hit different for everyone

I enjoy big, bold coffee flavors. Like dry peppery flavors, even tobacco, fruits, and tannins such as Argentine wine, Garnachas etc. My favorite stout is high grav, Sexual Chocolate by Foothills in Winston, second place is Nitro Stout by Pisgah.

Like a bold coffee. Americano being #1

Except, the 5 seed is projected to be the loser of the Big 10 title game as it stands right now...

Big 10 title game: Oregon beats Ohio State
SEC title game: Texas beats Georgia
ACC title game: Miami beats SMU
Big 12 title game: Arizona State beats whoever

If anything Penn State and Notre Dame are both being rewarded for not playing in championship games right now.

If there's no consequences for losing the title game, why even play it? Using the same tie-breakers to decide who gets in you can just let the regular season decide them...Seeding wouldn't really change from what it is now but you wouldn't have played an extra game for 8 of the 12 teams and 2 of the 4 that didn't play are getting to host home playoff games

Because the conferences want that game played for the TV money.

I'll admit. I keep getting the dates wrong on the schedule, i keep thinking first round is right after conf champ week.

I still don't think coaches want in tho.

Waiting on @Weezer to kick his ass.

No one is saying a team like TAMU should get a bump because they were in that game.

All anyone is saying is that whatever your opinion of TAMU was before the extra game, should remain your opinion after they lose.

And I'm not necessarily saying that should always be the case. Texas has a weak schedule. Say they get the doors blown off by Georgia. Is that useful information that could lead someone to drop them in the rankings? Yes. But it won't. The committee is not going to punish a team for playing an extra game they had to play because they won too many games. Ain't gonna happen.

Just looking at their recruiting lately...no wonder they fell off. Mack obviously not putting much into it.

2025 class 77th with 10 commits
2024 class 32nd with 33 enrollees
2023 class 28th with 22 enrollees

UNC players I think we'd be interested in
Zach Rice, former 5 star OT 2022 class, 20th overall and RS-So - 6'5" 315lbs
Eli Sutton, former 4 star OT 2021 class, Brentwood TN kid and Junior - 6'7" 315lbs
Jake Johnson, former 4 star TE 2022 class, transferred from A&M to UNC this past year RS-So - 6'6" 240lbs

Got quite a bit of 4 star WRs 3 that are Freshmen right now. Not sure if we'd be kicking any tires there or not though.
