Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I remember you telling the world Bshop was going to be worn out, coach should be sued Yada Yada Yada. Sit back child and let Bishop show you who he is.
Not sure I ever suggested his coach be sued, though i do remember others suggesting that. A lawsuit seems silly. The coach didn't hold him at gunpoint and make him go out there. I do think it was reckless and potentially threatening to his future to tax his body that much and expose him to unnecessary wear and potential injury by running him 40+ times a game. I still believe that.

You can disagree. I knew it was a matter of time before you'd join the fray to drink his bath water in this conversation. Not sure why it's your life's mission to defend his honor when I've never said a bad word about the kid. And I'm not even saying he can't make an impact, now. But here you are, projecting your negative opinion of me over a discussion of his high school usage as if I'm currently saying the kid is a bum not worth his scholarship.

I'm also not sure why you're obsessed with me and my opinion. If you don't like it, use the ignore feature. I'll lose not an ounce of sleep over it. Ironic that you'd call me the child whilst stalking my posts to dredge up a two year old conversation.

There isn't any evidence to substantiate my claim just yet. Small had a tremendous career at UT overall, but he never rushed for 800+ yards in a single season. Right now, there isn't evidence to say any RB on the roster will be better than Jabari with the exception of possibly Dylan Sampson. All we can do is project and speculate. The hope is that we have at least 3 RBs currently that are better than Jabari if we're going to compete at a championship level.
Absolutely! I'm more than willing to join the club that hopes the floor of our RB room is Jabari Small. Small was never the outright RB...he split carries all 4 years, which is seemingly Heupel's MO with RBs, which helps explain why he never cleared 800 yds. My disagreement was with you calling Bishop an upgrade on him before he's taken a snap. Just seemed like pie in the sky, though it may prove out over time. As I said, I hope you're right. We all want to see more talent in the building. I don't have a preference where that comes from. If it's Bishop, then I'm all for it.

Bishop is 5’10 200 and Small was 5’11 206 his second year in the program.

If Bishop went to Catholic instead of Karns he would’ve been a borderline 4*.
He could’ve went scholly to basically any group of 5 program, but he chose to PWO at UT so you guys like him, and so do I.

But he’s played 0 snaps. I don’t know what you think you saw in a spring scrimmage that made you think he’s better than Jabari. It’s just a guess, which you’re entitled to do, and I can point out that that’s all it is. In case somebody sees the conviction you made the claim with and thinks there’s anything at all to substantiate it.

Unless you’d like to explain the specific traits and things he does well that you saw, but even if you gleaned that stuff from the spring game, it’s still the spring game.

Not the spring game. Literally standing on the field during a game. He’s a true RB that runs with more conviction than Small. Will he put up better numbers than Small? Probably not because we won’t need him as much and there is more pure talent in front of him and he won’t get those type of carries.

How many times when coach is queried on the RB room, has he led with a Bishop report? Will never be a burner, but could be a solid 3 down back. Seemed to always get the most out of every carry. Will it translate to P5? TBD for the world. Not too many home runs, but lots of doubles, and no double plays. If other backs are as effective getting past the sticks and faster, you won’t see him much.

Bishop looks thick.

I think he’s pushing 210 because Sampson is 205 supposedly but Bishop looks bigger than him.

I think I'll leave it up to the coaches one never knows what can happen similar to an unheralded Hendon Hooker becoming one of our best QB's at the very least since Peyton Manning. I wouldn't bet on any of them being out of the picture as the next great QB.
To be fair, Hooker was always thought of as talented. He was a 4**** QB out of high school who had an up and down career at VA Tech. He was brought in by Cheney/Pruitt to start, but more as a bridge until they were comfortable with Bailey (not all that comforting of a thought) or Kaiden Salter was on campus.

Thankfully, things turned out differently with Heupel coming to town.
