Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Thanks for the answer. I didn't watch the game, and a web search only revealed this comment from a Georgia fan: "The rules of the rivalry dictate that the lead ref be from the home team’s conference and the rest from the away team." So I genuinely don't know unless that guy is right, and I hoped someone on this board noted where the officials were from last night when watching the game.

Holding is what completely kills our offense. Every single time Nico has made a WOW play by scrambling or rolling away from pressure and making a huge throw…HOLDING. I’m not sure if our OT’s do something completely different than other teams and our OT’s are worse than bottom tier ACC teams or we just get completely screwed. I honestly don’t understand.

What’s crazy is if you have a mobile QB there’s no reason to hold. Unlikely the DL is going to get him. Poor football IQ.

I will never understand how they got so much pressure, and why their game plan was that much better? Constant motion, moving guys around. Scheming. Read option was there alp game.

I will say that officiating in our game vs Georgia was dog ****.

True. As far as GT goes, I have a hard time having too much sympathy for them. Officiating aside, they had more opportunities than you could count on two hands to win that game. Play calling in overtime was horrible. Georgia was sending the house almost every play. Run a shovel pass, something quick. GT kept calling slow developing pass plays.

They were even slow with a minute left to try and get a FG off

"...and I told 'em, we hire 'High Quality Officials', in Bobby Bouchay's voice."

"they believed it!" "This job is so easy."

I agree. That game was definitely on them for the most part. They had it. Fumbled it away.

Also, can we stop going for two early in games, Georgia screwed themselves going for two in the third quarter. They would have won it had they just gotten the easy PAT.

I really need to face Georgia again, would love to knock them out. Boundless hate for them.
Georgia has played iffy football all year except for when the Vols came to town, they brought their A game. 😡

These coaches go with AI analytics over common sense these days

Funny how they didn’t suck much at all the entire game until last half of 4th quarter. Full conspiracy theory…did SEC and ACC make a deal that if Georgia needed help then they get it, and if Clemson needs help against SC with SEC crew, then they get it? Clemson has to win to stay in the mix for a spot.
I wouldn’t put it past the 2 conferences to do something like that honestly

hope the game plan includes ethan davis and miles kitselman today.

why do we not run off rpo or option? we have so many weapons, and we get so stale going away from hot hand. the pa should get middle open....to TE.

let's go!!
We should see miles of Kitselman today, he's been playing well down the stretch. We're only a few feet from the goal. We should also really watch the play calling to meter how often we use the TEs. Hopefully Nico is dialed in, some of his misses were by less than a yard. We need the TEs to do well blocking too, after all, it is a game of inches.

UT - 46
Vanderbilt - 0

In General Neyland’s last regular season game, UT traveled to Nashville to play bitter rival Vandy. Pat Olesiak scored 3 TDs and passed for 2 more scores. Doug Atkins returned an interception for a touchdown as the Vols destroyed Vandy 46-0. It was the largest defeat of a Vanderbilt football team in history. Tennessee’s Defense allowed only 13 yrds of offense for the day. The win would even the series record at 21 wins apiece.

This would be fun to repeat the stats of this game! 🤠

I thought GT had a 20 percent shot to win that game if Haynes King played. I was shocked at how it was playing out and disappointed how it ended. However, it just shows that Georgia is not the natty Georgia. They played a complete game against us with their back against the wall. But it shows their culture. They felt they could just walk in and win and got into a fight. Tennessee on any other field but Sanford can definitely beat Georgia.
