Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Remember hating his name being discussed as a candidate.
I was okay with settling for him for a few very dark days in Dec. 2020. We actually could have done even worse.

Went back and looked. This was VQ's hot board in Dec. 2020:

Chadwell - would have been a pretty good hire IMO, but super unproven at that point (and still is to some degree, but a P4 program will take a chance on him soon)
Napier - would probably have failed here, too big of a hill to climb taking over in 2021
Brown - bout to be fahred
Kiffin - would have done well but zero chance he would have ever been offered the job
Satterfield - bout to be fahred
Elliott - bout to be fahred
Heupel - resurrected Tennessee football
Campbell - trended down hard for a minute but did really well this season, would have probably been a decent hire
Malzahn - fahred
Herman - fahred by FAU for God's sake
Steele - thank God we didn't trot him out

I don't know what's more embarrassing, a player at the concession stand during the game or the lack of a line at the concession stand.
I don’t know what’s more embarrassing, a player at the concession stand during the game or 11 players on the field getting bullied by Louisville.

Wasn’t with firing Heupel, but there probably needs to be a staff change or two under him that moves the program more into elite status. Most would probably agree with that take as well on here. Heupel is fine though only reason he’d get fired would be because road performances and not ever getting over Georgia/championship issues.
This. Exactly. The calling for his head was such a ridiculous take though.
