Recruiting Football Talk VIII

You better brace yourself for the committee to keep OSU ahead of us and having to go on the road to the stupid horseshoe. Also prepare for them to put Alabama in as well. The bias is real. Hopefully BVS but I will have to see them rank us above tOSU to believe it.

I agree. I'll be shocked if we're ahead of Ohio State. I'm personally looking forward to playing at Ohio State. That's a place we've never played at before. It'll be a cool matchup to see. Ohio State coming down here will feel like when we host Bama. It would be cool. But I like the idea of us going up the horseshoe better. Also after we beat I don't wanna hear the excuse that we only won because of home field.

Wtf?

I most certainly don't want this team having to play on the road, versus basically any playoff-caliber team.

We need a home game, then I'm fine facing anyone on a neutral field.

OSU probably gets the nod with having 2 higher ranked wins than our best win, but here's to UGA and PSU getting RACKED and we host IU or PSU.

Really pisses me off that Dylan Sampson isn't a finalist for the Doak Walker Award.

Omarion Hampton from UNC - 281 carries, 1660 yards, 15 TDs
Kaleb Johnson from Iowa - 240 carries, 1537 yards, 21 TDs
Dylan Samspon - 256 carries, 1485 yards, 22 TDs

Only 1 is playing in the playoffs though.

I mean I think getting Dylan healthy was the smarter move, but he only had 11 carries against UTEP, could have been a game where he added another 2 or 3 TDs and 100+ yards.

I think gross stats don't tell the full story either. Johnson had 4 games where he failed to rush for 100 yards and he had 14 or more carries in all 4 games. Dylan had 2 games where he failed to reach 100 yards and 1 of them he only had 11 carries and didn't play almost any in the 2nd half (UTEP).

Vanderbilt was the only game Dylan didn't have a rushing TD in. Omarion failed to rush for a TD in 5 of his 12 games this year.

Did you forget to put the blue font? What kind of head scratching nonsense is this? Regular season, sure. But in the postseason where you need all the help you can get to ensure there’s a next game, I absolutely do not want to play anywhere else but Neyland. Also, if you seriously believe that place won’t be rocking louder than it has ever been for a playoff game and will only sound like it does when we play Bama, you must be hitting some of that Devil’s lettuce.

Yeah I honestly am expecting Georgia to beat them...but seeing how bad Georgia has looked to end the season I don't know.

Their defense especially has been bad and I think Texas will have a better gameplan for them this time around.
Texas just isn't that good of a team. They've had the easiest possible sec schedule and got lucky that Michigan is down this year. I think uga will beat them easily just like last time.

What’s the point of playing games if h2h means absolutely nothing. You thought bama deserved to be ahead of Tennessee in 2022?
H2H is ok as 1 single factor to use, among others, if 2 teams are nose to nose.

Otherwise it's endless circularity. The transitive property just doesn't fit neatly in sports.

It certainly shouldn't be used as a sole, deciding factor. The committee is trying to determine who is the best, not vs a single opponent, but vs a field of options of playoff-caliber opponents.

The point of playing is to win of course...but adjacently to boost your resume and prove yourself. Just like us playing and beating Bama has done for us. They're our one saving grace as far as "good wins" go (sort of a silly term, maybe should be "top win" or "great win"...UF, Vandy, OU, State are "good" wins too...but people are so dichotomous and binary these days).
