Recruiting Football Talk VIII

why should Ohio be ranked higher than us? They have one loss against a good team and one against a 6-6 team. Same as us.

It’s just habit and pre-judging things that keeps us from jumping them. They were embarrassed at home. They started at the top (without merit) (past seasons don’t count). and OSU always drops less than others when they lose. They should drop however many positions we dropped when we lost to 6-6. or one position more since they were at home.

We deserve to host. Watch Ohio’s game last week and ours and tell me we’re not better. They’re not.
All you say is true but that kind of reasoning is not part of the process. I think Ohio St. will be 5. They will not blow a match up with Tennessee in the first round and they will never send OSU to Neyland. We may end up getting Indiana or SMU in Neyland or on the road to South Bend.

Pin and pull is a Gap Scheme where pullers and pinners are based off Def alignment and not predetermined. Some of Nicos runs are this type, some are reads. Sometimes the route choices are based off whether middle of field is open or closed and sometimes based on QBs accuracy and execution throwing inside. As an earlier poster stated, Freshman QB not the best situation in this type of Offense as a rule. Only cure is game reps and time.
To add on this, we will pin and pull in the RPO game and the PA game. In the RPO, we will pin and pull, and read the linebacker. Often LBs will key guards, and will scrape or hit run throughs based on that pulling guard. In the RPO game, we typically fill the hook window left by the vacated LB. It's a simple read, and Nico does a pretty good job of this. If he vacates through the route, typically a slant. If not, hand the football.

In the PA game, we will pin and pull with no option to run the football. This yet again is to influence the lbs out of position. We will have option routes off of this. If the LB vacates, we like to run levels to put the Safety in conflict. If not, we will typically attack outside. Again, this is difficult because the WR and QB both must read the defensive key and be on the same page.

I think the committee will avoid the which 9&3 team to put in the playoffs by putting 10&2 Miami in.

Big 10 Wardell would rather put in another ACC team in rather than another SEC team..
I do hope 2-loss Miami get in over 3-loss Bama. I think that fits with how the committee is proceeding overall, and I’m sick of special year-end media campaigns and special deals for Bama.

Literally counted 45 AP “ya knows” during his spot on RW this morning. And I stopped listening when they got to Davis sanders.

Has to be a nervous tic or something. Maybe a form of Tourette’s
Most of them aren't even full "ya knows" anymore. It's more like "y'ow" now. That said, AP is still easier to listen to than Rob Lewis.

It is a classic case of the committee speak brainwashing fans. Beating a team head to head has very little to say about whether that teams is better or not. Margin of victory against middle school teams and the condition of the turf on their field are more telling about a team's quality. Give me a freaking break.
Its honestly baffling… why even watch the games, let alone attend them. We should do to college football what kids do with pokemon cards, battle one another by throwing cards onto a table 🙄

Notre Dame can’t be in the top 4 because they aren’t in a conference. Highest seed/ranking they can get is #5.
They can be rated top 4 but not seeded top 4. After they rate them, they seed them. Just like Tennessee being rated 7 but seeded 8. Notre Dame would be seated 6th in that scenario.

So then Texas should be in the same talks? Going In The TAMU game their best wins were Vandy and Oklahoma … only good team they played they lost at home to. Look I’m not defending Indiana or the Big Ten but if you give Missouri Indianas type of schedule in the SEC we would be saying they deserve to be in. Indiana did play the 2 teams that played in the national championship last year, is it their fault they were trash this year? Is it Tennessees fault that Oklahoma and Nc State collapsed after our games this year?

Missouri: 33rd of 134 in SRS, 44th of 134 in SOS
Indiana: 10th of 134 in SRS, 69th of 134 in SOS

Missouri played 3 top 25 teams, lost to all 3
Indiana played 1 top 25 team, lost

Missouri's best win was 7-5 Boston College
Indiana's best win was 7-5 Michigan

They're pretty damn close to having played the same schedule...

Biggest difference to me is that in the SEC only 3 teams failed to finish 500 or better in the Big 10 6 of their teams failed to finish 500 or better.

We don't reward Group of 5 teams for playing weak conference schedules, why should Indiana be rewarded? They only played Ohio State of the 8 win teams in conference. Avoided Oregon, Penn State, Illinois, and Iowa.
