True this year, but it's really the first time since Heupel's been here, largely due to how good Sampson has been.True, but two concerns:
1. Volume. UT runs its primary back a lot. I don’t think UGA has had a back with Sampson’s number of carries in 10 years. Not even NFL primary backs like Chubb, Michel, or Swift. A lot of RBs want to strike a balance between showing their skills and limiting their carries. Sampson is crushing it in raw terms, but his per carry numbers aren’t as impressive compared to other top level SEC backs like Hunter and Sanders this year.
2. Scheme. The unique spacing aspects of the offense aren’t something the NFL does much of. While RBs love putting up the stats, there has to be a concern that the concepts do not translate.
Tennessee has no trouble getting top level RBs. Sampson is top tier in the SEC this year and I think there are studs behind him.
I think both. Theres no Bryce young, Joe Burrow, Hyatt, DeVonta Smith, ect. The offensive talent is not up to par this year across the leagueWow…were defenses that good or have offenses been figured out?
It never made sense to me why Wright wasn’t leaned on more last year. 7.4 YPC, only 3 games with 15 carriesTrue this year, but it's really the first time since Heupel's been here, largely due to how good Sampson has been.
2021 : Small / Wright / Evans - 40% / 30% / 30%
2022 : Small / Wright / Sampson - 40 / 40 / 20
2023: Wright / Small / Sampson - 40 / 30 / 30
2024 : Sampson / Bishop / Lewis - 68 / 18 / 14
He was very much by-committee at UCF as well.
Your first point doesn't hold up under scrutiny. None of the other RB in this offense ('21 - '23) have had anywhere near this volume. In 2023, 2 of the top 4 backs in the SEC had more carries than Sampson has this year. Additionally, Sampson's YPC is 4th at 5.8, while Sanders, who you cited as top level, is lower-middle of the pack at 4.8.True, but two concerns:

****ing stupid misguided ******** to try to get people interested in baseball that never will be@butchna
What you think about Manfred trying to bring this "Golden at bat Rule" into play for MLB?
In that scenario once a game Teams could send best hitter to plate in a winning situation.
So then Texas should be in the same talks? Going In The TAMU game their best wins were Vandy and Oklahoma … only good team they played they lost at home to. Look I’m not defending Indiana or the Big Ten but if you give Missouri Indianas type of schedule in the SEC we would be saying they deserve to be in. Indiana did play the 2 teams that played in the national championship last year, is it their fault they were trash this year? Is it Tennessees fault that Oklahoma and Nc State collapsed after our games this year? It’s worth a discussion because conference expansion has created such unbalanced schedules. Indiana played 1! (and lost) of the other top 6 in their conference and 3 of the top 11. They only beat one team who had a conference winning record, and Michigan had to beat OSU to do that.
The main thing that frustrated me was the lack of going over the middle with passed (especially to the TE). We needed to use more of the field IMO.Butch's offense ran through the QB. there too was a greater demand on the RB. Which is hugely ironic that RB's want to play in that system versus this, which rotates RB's, and uses pulling, and creates large chunk plays (supposedly). QB is asked to be cerebral, know the defense. WR's are just as important, as TE's. The C is QB of the line.
Which one of those is more in line with an NFL system?
Huepel knows his team well. Ins and outs, stelnghths and weaknesses. He still knows what he wants to do. With Hyatt he wanted movement, creating mismatches.
The only real criticisms I have with this years offense: Other than the crappy WR and PB woes are:
1: Lack of off tackle runs. Pin and pull is term Ive heard. We run it to perfection. We have a speedster. We can beat 80% of teams to edge.
2: We run tons of PA. Vandy bit on it. Georgia had athleticism to make up. Time and again we see Nico make plays off kilter. He is a killer off RPO. Thornton's best route is crossing route. Why, do cram go routes down throat?
Loved what we did versus Vandy. Design Nico a run. Much like Pavia, it gives him confidence. Slap in helmet so to speak. Wakes him up. Pull ball, make them account. Then boom! TD!
3: Red zone woes: ditto. hard to criticize here bc of controlling clock. But when we are down 19-14 you gotta find that hot route.
It took us 12 games to find Sampson in passing game check down, 5 yards. 3rd and 2. Run it, keep it, check down, bomb pass, slant, TE wheel, 4th and 1.
Much more attainable.
If the Russians invaded Alabama I would not root for the Bammers but I would step in and kick the Russians ass after they whipped the Bammers. Besides those Yankees hate us way more than any of their rivals or the Russians.Nope. As chuck once said, “if Bama is at war with afghanistan, well, I guess I’m rooting for Afghanistan”
Manfred will ruin baseball@butchna

Yeah I was off on volume in prior years. Oof. My bad. For averages, I was using conference play only to get close to apples to apples: Sanders, Hunter, and Wisener are all over 125 carries in conference with higher ypc.Your first point doesn't hold up under scrutiny. None of the other RB in this offense ('21 - '23) have had anywhere near this volume. In 2023, 2 of the top 4 backs in the SEC had more carries than Sampson has this year. Perception of scheme might be an issue, but that perception is based off uninformed talking heads and posturing competitors, not reality. As long as the production and the wins continue, the reality of this offense will sink in over time and combined with no spectre of NCAA sanctions, the construct for the negative recruiting will collapse.
You’re right and I was off.True this year, but it's really the first time since Heupel's been here, largely due to how good Sampson has been.
