Recruiting Football Talk VIII

This is what I was saying earlier - the only teams that can move are the ones playing but if they move them others can move as a result.

But there is no way for us to move in front of OSU.

Penn State is the most logical of teams that can move or they stay exactly where they are.

Penn State could move behind Tennessee or just in front of Tennessee. They would have to really look awful in the loss or a season ending injury to 44 or their QB.
There's no way a 3 loss uga stays where they are. They'd drop for sure. We really need Texas to win that game.

WTF does that mean?
He's an idiot. SMU moving above Tennessee means nothing anyway. Because the only way they move above TN is if they beat Clemson. And if they beat Clemson they're locked into the Top 4 with a bye. Which means absolutely jack squat to Tennessee. But that's not even what was asked.

What he didn't say was what happens if SMU loses to Clemson. Which is what the person was really asking about is the losers. Would SMU drop out of the bracket if they lose? He totally avoided that.

I think there is a reason the CFP logo looks like an orifice. So we remember our role in this system. Which is to take it. Whatever crap they roll out.
Tennessee go win 10 games in SEC.

Oh you beat Bama? Ok Bama you're in. You'd love to host, at Neyland? Ok you're on the road.

Boise State we'll match you up with Indiana. Georgia you get Clemson. Notre Dame you get SMU. Penn State we'll find you a schlub

Tennessee you get OSU on the road.

Give me what I thought was the BCS then. My only real and genuine beef is the BIG10 has played no one. I am very curious if the heavy weight toward them holds up in game play. I am personally doubtful, but it does suck to draw their 20 million dollar team as a 1st round opponent.
It's impossible that the rankings next week will be the same as this week. I think it's very unlikely we go to OSU.

The system really is terrible. Freaking Boise State getting a first round bye and Tennessee has to travel to Ohio State in the first round. No other organization on the planet could develop a worse system. We could get 10 random middle school students and they would do a better job. NCAA is just a joke.
Fully agreed, but the NCAA doesn't have a postseason tourney in football.

Have to go after some quasi entity. An LLC that owns the rights to the playoffs. Their board controls the llc.

But yes it truly is AWFUL. For the good of the sport it needs to be fixed. And yes even if that change ultimately hurts us one year in the future. These players and coaches deserve better.

He said Indiana, not SMU.

He said he's not ruling out dropping a champ game team out of the playoff. Then he went on to clarify what he actually said that had been misinterpreted as "no champ game teams will be dropped out of the playoff."

Barrett is right about one thing. Warde has no clue what he is doing.

Take the man at face value. All those top teams are locked in the top. The rest is just flip flopping. So Clemson can play their way into a locked in seat. That is about as wild a mix up as you're going to get. Maybe SMU holds.onto Bama'a spot.

No we would be conference champions with an automatic bid or at worse Indiana a one loss at large bid.

If every SEC team is 0-12 (which is impossible but let's just play along with your ridiculous hypothetical) then we wouldn't be among the top 5 conference champions. That's why Army even if they win their conference aren't getting into the playoffs. Conference prestige matters when it comes down to making a playoff. Teams from better conferences get the benefit of the doubt. Undefeated Army was getting no respect in the polls because nobody respected their competition. If the SEC becomes terrible then we wouldn't get respect either for beating up on weak competition.

I see lord Ward saying no to this idea - the data point is only relevant to the other teams with new data points. A third title loss is not a new regular season loss. I do hope some of you are right.
He said "no, I'm not saying we won't drop champ game teams out of the playoff if they lose. We might do just that. We will evaluate those teams in those games and adjust them according to their performance."

Now, I'm skeptical he's telling the truth, but he's definitely said he's willing to drop losers next weekend.

I think that only applies to ACC is all i was saying.
