I'm curious why no one thinks Texas will drop below us if they lose again. Two losses and we'd have the better resume.

CFP is biased towards them. Along with Ohio state, bama, psu, and uga.

This seems like a victim mentality. If we were 11-1, we’d be hosting without a doubt.

It seems that way because it is that way.

If we had only one loss we would be ranked 2nd (3rd worse case) going into a conference championship game against 3rd (or 2nd) ranked Texas.

Counter argument: Notre Dame

Notre Dame doesn't play eight 0-12 teams on their schedule. If they did they wouldn't make the playoffs either. Remember I was entertaining a hypothetical from someone who said he wished every other team in the SEC went winless. My argument was if the rest of our competition is trash then our wins wouldn't be respected and we would never make the playoffs.

I wonder where we’d be ranked right now if the AP poll didn’t drop us from 8 to 11 after the close game with UF. Would be ranked higher?

They beat 2 playoff teams and we beat 1? It's not THAT unreasonable. They lost to the #1 team and a scrub and we lost to the #5 team and a scrub. Only difference is their scrub was at home, but it's hard to say definitively that should wipe our an entire extra win vs a playoff team.

It’s really that simple.

Was surprised they only dropped that little for a regular season ending, ugly loss, but there is at least a logic applied to it.

My frustration with the committee is that they do not apply the logics used evenly across the board. They appear to choose different logics at different parts of the ranking.

Beat a top 10 ranked team
On the road
Probably at night
Probably with temperatures in the 20’s (with snow or freezing rain?)

Could we do that? Sure.
Would we be favored to do so? Certainly not.
So, next Saturday I will be pulling for some blowouts. Go Texas! Go Oregon! Blow out those pups and lions
