Counter argument: Notre Dame

Notre Dame doesn't play eight 0-12 teams on their schedule. If they did they wouldn't make the playoffs either. Remember I was entertaining a hypothetical from someone who said he wished every other team in the SEC went winless. My argument was if the rest of our competition is trash then our wins wouldn't be respected and we would never make the playoffs.

They beat 2 playoff teams and we beat 1? It's not THAT unreasonable. They lost to the #1 team and a scrub and we lost to the #5 team and a scrub. Only difference is their scrub was at home, but it's hard to say definitively that should wipe our an entire extra win vs a playoff team.
It’s really that simple.

Was surprised they only dropped that little for a regular season ending, ugly loss, but there is at least a logic applied to it.

My frustration with the committee is that they do not apply the logics used evenly across the board. They appear to choose different logics at different parts of the ranking.

If we play at either TOSU or PSU, we would need to do something that we haven’t done in a long time:
Beat a top 10 ranked team
On the road
Probably at night
Probably with temperatures in the 20’s (with snow or freezing rain?)

Could we do that? Sure.
Would we be favored to do so? Certainly not.
So, next Saturday I will be pulling for some blowouts. Go Texas! Go Oregon! Blow out those pups 🐶 and lions 🦁
Still hoping for a home game at Neyland even though that appears unlikely.

I guess you can interpret this as positive, but sounds more to me like he’s just punting his answer because he knows Georgia isn’t moving.

Word F’ing salad.

“I don’t know. We haven’t watched those games. Probably won’t. Just like we haven’t with every other game this season. We’ll pull the box score sheet after and figure out how to justify bama being in. Oh you were asking about uga? Playing the worst big ten team and then a third match against Texas sounds good, or maybe Tennessee if we can’t get away with them playing the big 10s two best teams first. We’ll figure it out I’m sure. Big10 football rules!” - Warde Manuel with a donut in his piehole
