Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I'm not sure this one sends us to the portal. But if Seldon leaves, I bet it does.
I'm pretty sure Seldon will be leaving too. He's had a ton of injuries and would be number 3 next year. It looked to me that he was trying to redshirt until Bishop got hurt, they played him that game then went to Lewis the next week.

Ok, I agree. But that wasn't really the question. Penn St has a really good defense...
I looked at their ranking then looked at their schedule to kinda cross check

They are good but I think we’re better

I would like to see them beat Oregon but don’t think it’s gonna happen

Someone mentioned if Oregon beats Penn State soundly enough they'll drop Penn State below Ohio State.

So it could be Tennessee at Penn State or Penn State at Tennessee.

If Penn State loses to Oregon by any amount is there any reason to keep them ranked above Ohio State? They'll both have 2 losses, Ohio State lost on the road to Oregon by 1 and went on the road to beat Penn State. Penn State would have a loss to Oregon at a neutral site and a home loss to Ohio State. The only reason Penn State got in the title game over Ohio State is they didn't have to play Oregon during the regular season.

One of the things I hadn't thought about until watching the season play out is how unbalanced the conference schedules are. When you have 16 teams and you play 8 or 9 conference games you're going to have a lot of teams not play each other. Texas got a pretty cushy schedule for their first year in the SEC. Oregon, Penn State, and Indiana all avoided playing each other while Ohio State had to play all 3.

The fact someone is in a tough conference doesn't mean they played a tough schedule. Given the committee seems incapable of considering strength of schedule as anything other than a tiebreaker playing a weak schedule will be a huge advantage to teams and schedule strength will be a bit of a crapshoot depending on how conference schedules fall in a given year.

Bishop asserting himself as the clear number 2 this year put a lot of pressure on the other RBs. Assuming Sampson leaves we’re looking at a Bishop-Lewis-Seldon backfield. Also, assuming Seldon doesn’t leave. Then you got Daune Morris and Justin Baker factored in as well. Morris, IMO, will play some as a freshman due to his versatility.

Saw this coming.
He’s a good player. But for THIS offense, he wasn’t going to beat out Lewis and probably not Baker or Morris either.

I wish this kid luck. I think had he stayed with Kentucky he’d be on a losing team but would have gotten a lot more PT.

Appreciate him competing all this past spring and fall. He allowed the defense to actually practice 👍

Baker is running harder than any running back Georgia RN- with the exception of Lee County’s Kromah.

He will be a factor from the spring. He’s really good. He and Morris both! Both can catch!

Lewis and Bishop better keep working hard and fine tuning their skillset. I have no doubt they will.

Saw this one coming. Will end up at Kentucky or with Mack at Kennesaw State if I had to guess.
I think he’s an SEC back. But there’s many G5 teams that could use him as well.

Don’t think he should fall all the way to Kennessaw State

Honestly Florida State could really use him…

You liked how UGA/GT finished? That was garbage.
New OT rules I propose: 2 red zone possessions, 2 2pt conversions, then field goal kicking from 30, 40, 50

If still tied, each team's punter kicks from the opposite 35. The punt that downs closest to the goal line wins the game.

Test ALL phases🤣

Not saying them specifically but what happens if any of the losing teams have injuries to a key player. Will that affect their seeding? It has in the past. Say Boise wins but loses Jeanty, PSU loses and Allar gets injured, Georgia loses and Beck injured, etc.
I think it will definitely affect their final ranking.
