Recruiting Football Talk VIII

UT - 13
NYU - 0

Tennessee was invited to a “Charity” Bowl Game at Yankee Stadium to play New York University. The Violets outgained the Vols 248-122, but the defense held NYU out of the end zone in the 13-0 victory. Beattie Feathers scored on a 64 yrd run and Deke Brackett returned a punt 75 yrds for the second touchdown. After watching Herman Hickman’s performance, Grantland Rice returned to his office and added him to his mythical All-America team.

NYU Coach Meehan told his team to run at Hickman, Tennessee’s “fat boy.” After four plays NYU had minus 14 yrds. Later Meehan asked his team captain if Hickman was really that tough. He answered, “ I don’t know, and I don’t want to find out. He called me a damn Yankee, and I pretended I didn’t hear him.”

Good luck to all the TSSAA teams playing for State Championships this week!

Go BGA!

Marion Co in the title game gives me flashbacks of the 90s teams they had. They were pretty, pretty good.

Cade getting snubbed is almost as egregious as Sampson getting left off the Doak Walker list.
Surprised Cade didn't make the SEC team. He is one heck of a Center.

Tate Ratledge making the team is a farce. He didn't play well at all this year and was hurt for a lot of it.
Doubt Cade frets over it...like, at all. Now, the Philadelphia Eagles may be keeping Cade up at nights.

Appopriate photo with the Tweet, Tennessean.
Maybe it’s just my perspective so those who pay for it let me know if I’m wrong but the Tennessean and Knoxville News Sentinel (even more so) have seemed much more anti-UT in the past few years than I think they should be. What’s up with that?

To save money my daughter is going to UT Martin starting next fall for pre vet..... Her plan is to go to Veterinary school at Knoxville........

I'm a nervous wreck and trying to enjoy all the last times associated with high school.....
I feel ya. We've got one more year. Right now UT is her top choice, and she wants to go for a second tour. Fortunately for us, as a state employee, we get a pretty sizable discount so there is that.

The DC was a division 2 DC before Gundy hired him and The OC has been on Gundy's staff since 2011 as WR coach and didn't get promoted to OC until 2020. This tells me that no one wants to work with Gundy.
I'm really surprised that Gundy has lasted at Ok St. as long as he has. All I can figure is that he has some kinda Jedi mind tricks he uses to keep from getting fired and getting big raises whenever Tennessee has a coaching search. He's the Dude from the Big Lebowski.
