Recruiting Football Talk VIII

There is no way Beck will play. I tore my UCL playing baseball and had Tommy John surgery. Even if he were able to play through the pain, he wouldn’t be able to generate any velocity on his throws with that ligament torn.

This is your most common baseball injury sustained by many pitchers. He’ll be out a full year, at least.

Clemson is gonna get killed by texas, but I so want texas to lose.

A good friend’s sons are both going to texas. The entire family has been subjugated and are now obnoxious as eff longhorns. I’m amazed at how quickly they became condescending pricks. It makes me sad, but my hatred for all things longhorn has increased exponentially. It’s so bad that I actually found myself rooting for uga to win the SECCG.

How much fun would it be for Clemson to beat the longhorns, then, I don’t care who wins between ASU and clemson. However, since I hold no animosity towards ASU, let clemson beat them barely.

Then there’s a rematch of Tennessee clemson in the next round. Dabo would have a nervous breakdown if he has to play Tennessee again. Especially with a Tennessee that’s better than the last time.

Tennessee versus Indiana for the National Championship game? Any of y’all on board with this scenario?

We have the toughest path to the semi-finals. It’s only right that we get an easier path to the NC!
I never really hated TU till I have listened to their ignorant obnoxious fans for the last three years. They are approaching, at least they're in the area code, of Bammer level hate. I also know a guy who recently move to Austin, he was always a jack azz but now he is out of control.
The free market should absolutely be left alone to govern salaries, but the players won't stand for that. They want to collectively bargain for insulation from failure and guaranteed money. Same thing with coaches and their ridiculous buyouts. Price fixing is not the only manipulation of the free market in professional sports. It's everywhere. The only stakeholder not currently insulated from some effects of the free market is the initial ticket purchaser. They bear the brunt of all the guaranteed BS built into the contracts, but as long as we're stupid enough to pay it, then we're getting what we deserve.
I agree, there is no true free market but the principals still apply. In the end, all the securities and insolation will not be effective when the money dries up.
I liken it to farming. Man has come up with all kinds of innovations and techniques designed to cheat nature. But modern farming with all these goes out the window if it stops raining.

Sounds like Beck is done. I think Kirby listened to Josh Pate before the SECCG. In his weekly show last week JP suggested that if any key player gets hurt you better get him off the field fast and leave him on the sideline to avoid any appearance of a significant injury. He didn’t condone that action but based on how FSU was handled last year that’s what team’s would have to do with key injuries to ensure the committee doesn’t penalize them. Sad but probably true.
I could maybe see that if they thought that they might lose the game but Georgia is in no matter what as SEC champs. He had a wrap on his elbow for the beginning of second half Saturday then he had nothing on it later. And was smiling a chatting up teammates.

If he did that
That sucks for him
Hopefully he recovers and gets a shot in the nfl

Well it was halftime so they didn’t know how it was gonna play out. The reports of the UCL injury which usually require surgery matches up with his inability to grip the ball to throw, not so much handoff which is only why he went back in the game.

It’s definitely not perfect. Humans tend to muddle things. 😏
No doubt, but I mean half the teams in the playoffs suck by big boy football standards. This will be the end for autobids. The only reason the went with this format was to get the non-SEC/B1G schools to agree to an expanded playoff. They knew it was the only way to prevent the SEC/B1G from sucking up all the spots and shutting them out. When the ratings start to suffer because the games suck, autobids will be gone.
Just like in everything else when the product suffers for the sake of inclusion and fairness the people will revolt.

You may be correct, I was mostly going by the actions reactions of Beck and the players. Usually when someone is really hurt and the season is over they get lots of consolations from teammates. But you maybe right.

Just curious. Does anyone know what ND’s quality win is supposed to be? I don’t see any ranked teams on their schedule. We know losing to NIU at home is far worse thane losing to Arky on the road. It may be the loss of the year. They would need at least one quality win to be in the top 10, no? I never realized ND only played 3 road games.

Cole had been down with the 🍊 for a while. Day is a pipe burster, hes shown us who he is for years.

What’s the history of coaches with their backs on the line coming out and winning to move forward? I can’t think of many. Maybe Billy Boy in Florida? If you’re at that point in your career where winning this game means you keep your job, I’m all about it. Pack that pressure on him for the next two weeks and let’s go!

Army was their best win.

If the injury is mild enough to not require surgery, you can usually make a full recovery in a few weeks to two months.
This is correct. There are three grades: grade 1 is PT and 2-4 weeks until you’re back. Grade 2 (if non surgical) is more like 6-8 weeks. Grade 2 with surgery is 3-4 months, and a full Grade 3 tear is 9-12 months.

They’re acting like it’s not a full tear but also not a minor Grade 1. If it’s non-surgical, there is the barest chance that he would be available if UGA wins a game or two. I kinda doubt he plays again. Edit: plays again this season.
