Recruiting Football Talk VIII

This is correct. There are three grades: grade 1 is PT and 2-4 weeks until you’re back. Grade 2 (if non surgical) is more like 6-8 weeks. Grade 2 with surgery is 3-4 months, and a full Grade 3 tear is 9-12 months.

They’re acting like it’s not a full tear but also not a minor Grade 1. If it’s non-surgical, there is the barest chance that he would be available if UGA wins a game or two. I kinda doubt he plays again. Edit: plays again this season.
Here’s the thing. Even if it’s not a full tear, a UCL injury will still severely affect his ability to generate velocity on his throws. I dealt with it both as a QB and pitcher, and had my UCL repaired by Dr. Andrews in Birmingham 20 years ago.

Because Beck is a QB and uses that ligament frequently, it is inevitable that a partial tear will eventually become a full tear if not surgically repaired. Highly unlikely they don’t elect to go ahead and perform surgery given his NFL prospects. Any other position in football could play through this injury, but not a QB.

sounds like if there is any kind of tear at all he’ll be out. I think some Grade 2 issues are “just” strains, and that’s where the window of possibility lies. But I’d bet against it: he’s probably taken his last snap in red and black.

Sankey better plead that we get a fair whistle in Columbus. I still don't think Texas is as good as their ranking shows.
Arch should have kept the starting role when Ewers got injured earlier in the season. Ewers is trash and nothing but a statue in the pocket. But I’m all for them continuing to play Ewers.

There is no way Beck will play. I tore my UCL playing baseball and had Tommy John surgery. Even if he were able to play through the pain, he wouldn’t be able to generate any velocity on his throws with that ligament torn.

This is your most common baseball injury sustained by many pitchers. He’ll be out a full year, at least.
It really depends on how badly he injured his UCL. I have had pitchers strain a UCL an recover with a little time off. If he tore it, he's done but if he tore it bad i doubt he would be handing that last ball of with his right arm.

Just curious. Does anyone know what ND’s quality win is supposed to be? I don’t see any ranked teams on their schedule. We know losing to NIU at home is far worse thane losing to Arky on the road. It may be the loss of the year. They would need at least one quality win to be in the top 10, no? I never realized ND only played 3 road games.

That defense is legit. Offense is fine: WRs are a plus, great TE, RBs are good. OL has some issues. If Ewers has time, they’ll move the ball. Manning is way more dangerous running, but he doesn’t have the command of the passing offense that Ewers has.

UGA committed to stopping the run, containing the TE, pressuring the QB, and letting the chips fall where they may on pass plays. They hit some shots but it wasn’t enough in the end. Their screens and misdirection plays are a lot to prepare for, but you can wreck them if you make them pay for slow developing plays.

OSU sucks. Now, call me an idiot. I don't give a damn.
Hey...you said it, I didn't.

OSU does not suck...they are crammed full of NFL talent all over the field..especially on defense.

Our hopes are pinned on Day doing something dumb and their OL falling completely apart against our front 7.

If those two things happen and our offense finally gets executed at a high level...them having a great defense, probably better than ours when you break it down player by player, makes our offense doing that for the first time on the road an unlikely prospect...but if that near miracle actually happens...

We could win.

Their is nothing wrong with being realistic, and the real truth is...this is a really tough row to hoe.

If it’s only strained, it’s possible. Even if there is only a slight tear, they will still perform surgery. As far as handing the ball off, there was no pain doing that for me, at all. The most pain I had was when I actually threw the ball, and even more so when I threw a baseball from an elevated mound.

They played two good teams this season: Oregon and Penn State. Lost one and could have lost the other, but PSU couldn’t convert on two trips inside the 5. Then the obvious terrible loss against Michigan cannot be overstated. But don’t forget their game against Nebraska. A small margin of victory at home against that mediocre Nebraska team. What I’m trying to say is that they are not some juggernaut.
And neither are we...especially on the road

OSU is going to be a dogfight to win. We played like crap at Arky at night I hardly think we will roll into the Shoe and dominate. We can win but it’s going to require great coaching and players making plays. Nothing is given come playoff time.
