Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Idk…..Willie was extra special…..
he was... fast.

Fastest human I recall seeing in Neyland was Raghib Ismael. I can still remember vividly the feeling of watching that dude run a kickoff back.

There have been some special Vols though. Cordarelle had underrated speed. I think EB had underrated speed.

But, any list not containing the following name should be shredded.

One of my fave Vols, Dale Carter.

I see it differently. The mercenary players with no heart will flock to the high dollar teams with no soul. It will work for a while (uga, texas, osu), but not always (ole miss, bama).

Sustainable development will always work for others (Oregon, Tennessee). The route to success is more likely our way than theirs.

The coaches who push for the highest paid teams will ultimately lose not only their team, but the fanbase, their donors and ultimately their job. For example, watch the plight of day and kiffin. Day’s seat is hot and will go nuclear if he loses to Tennessee. He will coach to not lose and essentially coach scared for his job. The osu fans will storm the field when they lose to Tennessee, but not in joyous celebration rather to catch Day for some tar and feathers.
Just watch. 😈

We will triumph in the end! DW is doing it right. Our coaches are not chasing the mercenaries in any sport and it saves our fans heartache and frustration over wasted money. Just watch. 😎

14-2 🤠
I don’t disagree with your larger point, but I’m curious why you put UGA among the no soul teams and Oregon among the builders. UGA is normally less active in the portal than its peers (though it took more last year). Beck is touted recruit who waited years to play, and Stockton is, too. I think two starters are transfers and most of the roster are high school recruits. 5 stars are riding the pine behind walk-ons and lower-rated guys who play the right way. UGA certainly plays the NIL game at a competitive level, but so do all the teams you list. Oregon is starting a transfer QB who is replacing a transfer QB. They are among the most active portal teams and certainly have big money backing. I like Dan Lanning a lot, but I see him doing pretty much what Kirby is doing—but with more of an emphasis on the portal. How are they different in your eyes?

Thought this needed to be spread. I'm literally quivering with fear.

On the one hand, I want it to happen because it would cause KY fans to panic. But on the other hand, if they lose Vince, they may luck out and hire somebody competent.

That stat (first 10-0 start since '99-00) was surprising to see, but makes sense when you consider our elevation as a program and our top notch OOC scheduling and tournaments we play in the Bahamas and such. Almost inevitable everyone will get clipped playing each other at high levels.

We've simply taken care of business so far. Last night was a tough struggle as a team, but let's not say it was all ugly, because Lainier and Gainey were top notch offensively. We have a few legit options on offense.

Very good team, the SEC slate will be very interesting though. Auburn looks really good, UF and UK are intriguing, among others. We're going to lose a handful, as will everyone.

Just keep progressing, stay healthy, and hey...there's no Edey or elite UConn this year, so there's a damn good roadmap already 👀

I'm also interested to hear what Ulysees is doing about it that functionally separates his contribution and influence from your own.
Well just be like UK fans, they've kept an entire website and database of how refs were screwing UK basketball over for a couple decades now 😌🤣
