Disagree. There's plenty of precedent of college QBs with raw talent putting it all together in the NFL but not in college.
Case in point, the two best QBs in the league this year, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.
Should teams be banking on drafting QBs and on the Mahomes/Allen plan? I think that's debatable. But it's just wrong to act like it's completely unprecedented.
The difference between the Titans and the Colts is that the Titans missed on a 2nd round pick and the Colts missed in an identical way on the 4th overall pick. Vols fans who don't watch or know anything about the NFL want to act like it was some incomprehensible blunder that the Titans picked Levis. If there was even a 10% chance they could put Levis on the Josh Allen track to bring a franchise QB it was worth the risk as an early 2nd rounder. That's how the game is played in a world with the draft salary rules. The cost is so low, it's worth taking chances on QBs, even if the GM would freely admit behind closed doors that the probability of those picks working out is low.
And then there's the fact that in my entire lifetime there's been two "can't miss" prospects in Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck. It's hardly a skill to "predict" a QB to bust. They almost all bust, no matter where they are picked.
The Josh Allen comparison to justify the Titans continuing with Will Levis is really getting old. Josh Allen was raw coming out of college due to the level he played at. He did demonstrate though that he could elevate his game when it came to crunch time and could will his team to a win. No joke the Miami game last year was the only time I have seen Will Levis do such a thing in his collegiate or pro career.Josh Allen most certainly has come a long way, he definitely was a raw talent coming out of college. He always was a freak athletically but he has really learned what he is doing now. Early he was mostly reactive and used athleticism to make plays, now he is dictating the game and making sh!t happen.
There were seasons where Peyton Manning was the clear best at the craft, then Brady would do his thing or Drew Brees would raise his hand. Last year Lamar Jackson was the MVP and watched Mahomes be inferior AND hoisting the Lombardi. No doubt Allen is running a clinic and fun to watch.@butchna
I've stated for 5 years MaHomes is best QB in NFL but this season Josh Allen has taking that Narrative.
As of right now only thing that will stop Josh Allen is Josh Allen.
I don't have a real issue with whichever of them won and basically liked that a QB wasn't even in the running. Having said that even with Boise's schedule (and ignoring he also balled all over the #1 team in the country...with a G5 line blocking for him) his success ratio is still way whack. The kind of thing you cite is precisely why a G5 running back with 1700yds isn't usually going to make much of a splash. Jeanty currently has over 200 more yards after contact than any other RB has period. That's simply beyond any normal conversion for strength of schedule. It's also why the NFL scouts could not care less where he played and is far and away the #1 RB on the board and probably a lock for a top 15 overall. (most are saying Dallas)It was a lot tougher than Boise’s. Especially considering opponents’ defenses.
If you watched Hunter and didn’t think he was elite, we’ll just have to agree to disagree. He was a generational talent.
Preciate that. Yeah man after meeting half the team and coaches, having Coach Heup and Pope at the house that was really cool. And definitely excited for Nico going forwardDude, absolutely! We all know that deep down you will always be a Vol fan now. Once you get a taste of being a Vol fan, it just grows inside of you and can’t be undone. We are the greatest fanbase in the world.
