Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Mix of bitter anger and absolute heartbreak atm. We got embarrassed. We looked more out of place than Indiana. This one hurt.

They owned us on both lines of scrimmage. OL kept collapsing. DL going up against a patchwork OL, just like when we played Georgia, couldn't get significant pressure. And Banks once again refused to use blitzes to get pressure. Our corners couldn't cover their elite WRs, and our WRs couldn't get open against their corners. Major props to Nico for giving up his body and running hard. The rest of the team didn't give him a lot of help.

The talent disparity was obvious. Ohio State signs elite talent at almost every position. We don't have that same luck.

Man, this game hurt.

10 win seasons are nothing to shake a stick at. Always going to have great memories. We beat Alabama and Florida. I will always enjoy those tears. Nico is a bad man. Lewis is a dog. Appreciative of Mays and Spraggins.

This is one of the top programs in Country. We have all resources, period. Anyone with .oz of pride, who wants to win will see what it takes, better players and more talent.

The fanbase will be galvanized around the talent disparity and vying for changes. Will Huep make them? Ellarbee is a liability, Pope may be also.

GBO.
Preach.

I love Heupel but he really is not a great evaluator of QBs/talent. He went all in on Milton and now Nico. We could have 2 better quarterbacks on this roster for less than the price we are paying Nico.
Nico has the talent…you can see it. He just got antsy when our OL broke down at times and quit looking downfield.

Heup has developed Drew Locke, Dillon Gabriel, dudes at OU, Hendon Hooker, and recruited Jordan Love at Utah State. At least 3 pro players. He is fine at recruiting the QB position.

How do we have 0 playmakers on this roster also? Nico was supposed to be that guy and he struggles to even resemble an average QB most of the time. Bru is our only decent receiver. Ramel Keyton puts this bunch to shame as pedestrian as he was.

Nico needs to be better. Has a lot to improve.

Coaching and play calling have to get better.

But we know the game now and we know what it takes.

If we don’t do what it takes then I will start to disconnect.

But go make the moves to get better and let’s get a home playoff game next year.
He’s the only offensive player that showed up tonight. If the line gave him time and the receivers made plays, I bet he plays even better. It needs to not be all on him. It was all on him tonight.

Shouldn't be surprised by the outcome come of this game. Tennessee has been suspect on offense all season and just played the #1 defense without its best player.

This was a heck of a coaching job by Heupel to get this team to 10 wins.

Got to get top tier safties and 1 bad ass reciever. Peyton Lewis is going to be a STUD.

No doubt, Kelly out coached Banks badly.

😂. It don't make a **** who the qb is when the OL couldn't block the water bottles much less a decent DL & the WRs couldn't catch a cold at the North Pole..

I agree tonight but there’s 50 other QBs out there that would have played better than him tonight. He’s done squat all year, I don’t get the optimism with him. Excuse me, he sure beat the hell out of those first 4 cupcakes on our schedule.

Look I’m disappointed and frustrated too, but we overachieved this year. With that WR group? Definitely

We played two of the top 3 most talented teams in the country on the road this year. That’s really tough.

We have to recruit dudes and pay up in the portal
And yet we’re not doing that. I was there, live, and it was terrible to watch. We looked lost and had no offensive gameplan. It was short passes and run plays. Wtf was that? It reminded me of the Fulmer years. And our defense was just horrendous. D-line got out played. Secondary for out played. Just a bad showing all around.

We have a few playmakers, but if we want to make it in the big leagues, we need to pony up.

Not wrong about one thing

The talent gap was obvious and significant but not 42-17. This one’s on the coaches. We had two weeks to prepare and they got whatever they wanted tonight while we seemed stale. Players need to be better. Coaching needs to be much better.

Huepel could wait until after '25. But I think he should and could make a change now.
Ellarbee needs to go. He’s a recruiting liability. Pope I’ll give some pass… as I think our WR Talent just isn’t great. Love Bru but the broken leg hobbled him and he ain’t the same athlete, Squirrel can’t stay healthy and falls down every catch, Thornton could be the best WR in the nation but he’s hobbled most the time, honestly Brazzel hasn’t impressed, Matthew’s and Staley needed more PT all year. Tonight was a tough spot for them with limited experience. Bottom line we need a talent injection to Safety, LB, WR, and OL.

You are an idiot if you think that was on the coaches. You could clearly see the discrepancy of speed on the field. Ohio state was the bigger faster and stronger team on the field. That's not coaching.

You can get really good players but you have got to be able to develop them beyond what they are when they arrive in order to be able to compete in the SEC or win Championships on a consistent basis. CJH is what we need I think but I just hope he is able to separate friendship and business in some cases....I just haven't seen an ability to do so thus far........time will tell.
