Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Tf does that mean? You want me to message you a fake address to meet me at so we can fight? Or do you prefer we agree to meet at the Cheesecake Factory parking lot at west town mall and I just not show up?
I thought I was pretty clear. There isn’t going to be a fight and there would be no doubt. I don’t eat sweets. Now, pizz off. I don’t put people on ignore but congratulations.

Yea they were greasing your wheels. Nico looked like **** tonight.
I can assure you they weren’t greasing my wheels. I took 💩 all night from them. Nico looked exactly how any QB would look with that protection. And yet he still fought with more heart than 99% of the naysayers on here all but calling for heupel’s head.

It’s simple: we don’t have the players and our QB is still young. Hooker had 3 years of CFB under his belt before fully taking over and we had a WR core that was talented enough to make things happen. Nico can get us there, we just need more pieces around him to help get us over the mountain.

It’s also simple that Nico’s passing and rushing stats against competition that doesn’t suck are not good. Young or not, we all hoped for much better out of a 2nd year QB with a massive NIL deal. We won 10 games on our defense’s back. Nico only cost us 1 game this year but leaves us with less of a chance than we’d hope for in games against elite teams.

2nd year QB? The dude played one full game last year. By all standards, he’s still green. We’ll be fine. Brush off the embarrassment and move onto the portal and offseason.

Yes. And I can tell you the 25 OSU fans sitting around me also think he’s an elite level QB. That’s all I heard as it was evident we were toast. “Once he gets a little less green, you guys are going to be good.”
That’s just **** nice people say when they’re winning.

He barely threw for 100 yards on 45% completion

Just shows how ignorant some of you are. The LB coach you want fired just brought in a top 3 haul at the position cause he KNOWS we have issues. This team in 4 years has beat all my expectations from that terrible time. We need more players AND DEPTH to handle a long SEC grind.

We need more talent and if you want to fire coaches and start over, you deserve another Jeremy Pruitt and 15 more years of crap football. I’ll be outta here for good if that happens. Some of this fan base are either stupid or the biggest most immature puss and boots ever.

Who is calling for the lb coach to be fired. I even said it’s probably a lack of depth and talent at the position lol. The only two position coaches I want gone are oline smd WR. Period.

Dude is handcuffed. No wrs. Bad oline play. Is what it is.

True. Pended Hendon had a lot more experience. 2021 Hendon wasn’t as good or accurate as 2022 Hendon but you could tell he had it in him and the offense both years were better than our last two years here. Jury is still out on Nico imo but Hendon benefited from a better OC and his WRs had better coaching too.

We always talk about coaching

and maybe! Like yes I want to believe that’s the majority!

But I dunno maybe he was really naturally good and able to adjust. What I mean is maybe there is an X factor/brain kinda thing that lets you make decisions fast—instinctively—that separates you from the rest. That some people have and some people don’t. And it’s totally random. And no one’s to blame, but you just eventually figure out whether you have it or not. And Hendon had that ****. And it’s super hard to tell if you have that **** when you’re in high school, as you’re just too young to be that mature to know. Idk but I think about that sometimes. Some quarterbacks just have the decision making juice. So much of it’s in the head

If you don’t see the glaring weakness of coaching at oline and WR I don’t know what to tell you bud. I’m content with all the other coaches for the most part

Nothing screams ignorant more than people that misuse the word ignorant lmao

No doubt he was. Hooker was good and decisive. Also was good at finding the open man within different coverages and blitzes. Was crazy good at pre-snap reads too. There were some open windows tonight that 2022 Hooker would’ve capitalized on.

Okay, I’ll turn it down a notch and need to. What do you think about our receivers and overall offensive play calling? I know we need patience for Nico to grow, but it’s frustrating at times.

Just getting back to hotel after a pretty brutal walk-the OSU fans are pretty low rent. But hey, no guts, no glory, right? Maybe someday we'll win a big one on the road and nights like tonight will be worth it. I'm starting to have my doubts tho. A few observations from Ohio stadium:

Worried Josh's system only works at home. Pace will have to be big differentiator with us until we have similar talent to teams like OSU (good lord they have some dudes). Loud crowds seem to gum up his system and we lose that edge. We might as well go under center and do true play action because when we bog down in situations like this, we have no plan.

Somebody that knows more about football help me understand how our WRs struggle so much to get open? I'm beginning to think it's a scheme flaw because we are so wide and that limits the route tree. Then again, how did they run so free in 22? It's perplexing and concerning. Raises questions. Not saying we get rid of Heup or anything emotional, just noticing a concerning and consistent trend. Freshman WR's having to play because of injuries is a plausible explanation for tonight but then again, Jeremiah Smith looked just fine.

The operations tonight were really bad. Not sure if it was obvious on TV but an uncomfortable amount of the time on both sides of the ball, one or more position group was looking at the sidelines for a call when the ball was snapped. Clearly confused on both sides, we were reacting the whole game. On the other hand, Chip Kelly had a plan and Banks was exposed. Not his best night. What is most concerning is that they had three weeks. To look so unprepared after three weeks was such a gut punch.

Good teams consistently block and tackle better than we do. Why? I thought thought we were developing better, but I may be wrong. Tonight it was glaring at the point of contact, time and time again. We are not a fundamentally sound football team and win with better athletes when it is the case.

On the bright side. the Tennessee fans brought it all day and tonight. I was so proud. The OSU fans sitting around me were cleary bothered by it. They are a very entitled bunch, by the way. Countless fans/ushers/beer sales ladies said they'd never seen anything like it and were not happy about it. I wish we'd made them sweat even for a minute, but our guys turned in a D minus effort despite Aplus showing from the fans.
