Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Halze has to have some responsibility. He either isn’t seeing what was obvious to golesh or the development he’s responsible for isn’t there. If he’s just a glorified binocular holder in the pressbox then fire him.
Sure, he has some responsibility. You have to place some percentage on it. I'd think the offense is 80% on Heupel/ 20% Hazle.

IIRC, Golesh called the plays and Heupel watched the secondary and communicated when to take a shot. It helped that Hooker couldn’t miss in 2022
I think some of the limitations on play calling is on poor OL play. But there were times last night that Nico had plenty of time. Either recievers were covered or Nico wasn't seeing them. It seems our routes are so very basic. 2 years ago and even last year, we had some really creative stuff to get recivers open. Not so much anymore. Something has changed and I don't think it's all because a lack of talent.

1st quarter buried us. The game looks a lot different if we could've stayed within 7 that qtr. That dang face mask penalty changed the whole quarter.

I quit posting in here not long after the 3rd time i dog cussed Eason for that. No excuse. None. We should have had the ball at midfield looking to go up 7-0. Onstead they had 1st down at the 45 and went up 7 in 60 seconds on the bomb.

It was backbreaking. It was incredibly stupid...peewee ball kids know that you never run up to ANY player and reach for their head or facemask. Go for the ball...go for the tackle (waist)...go for ANYTHING EXCEPT THE FACEMASK.

He killed us. This was a total team loss...Sampson hurt carrying twice killed us, Squirrel shouldnt have even dressed, Thornton got hurt too...and our defense had no answer for those 5* receivers. We were shown a talent gap we didnt know still exists. Need a couple more classes.

ANYONE calling for firing CJH etc is a complete freaking moron and should find something else to watch besides UT football because they do not, and will not, ever understand it

Time for some soul searching. Program is in such good shape overall. Last night stings and just shows us where we are in terms of the celeing, and how much is left to do to break through it.

No specifics, but change will come. Roster does need some work. Coaches really have to re revaluate things.

Wouldn't go so far as to say any coaches need to be fired. But really wondered why the offense looks soooooo much different than 2 years ago.

Acknowledged the o line was bad. Noted deficiencies at safety. Really complimentary of OSU wrs,d line....

Basically... We know where the ceiling is now.. What are we gonna do/be able to do to break thru. Also said that there will be guys that played last night that will go in to the portal,a coupler may already know where they're going but wanted to play this out with this team.
The players leaving is interesting. That concerns a little. Obviously, we wanted them to stay, some we didn't seem to care. It will be interesting to see the reason for them leaving.

We don't use motion and need to imo. I want the Bru type in the slot like jauan in sf. In this offense that is better. A squirrel type should be wr #4 in motion like Tyreek Hill.
That would require specific game planning to your teams talent. With its strengths and weaknesses. Why gameplan or alter things when you can hand ball up middle 25 times?

The longer we go with Heupel, the more I’m convinced he is our Mark Richt. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Loyal to his coaches to a fault. Good not great coach. Good not elite recruiter. Will always field a good team and be good, but will not hit that elite tier. Compared to where we’ve been, a lot of people will be ok with that.
